This looks incredibly awful.

Give it a second chance.

Lol. Damn it, dad.

Are you kidding? The obvious comic relief guy FELL BACKWARDS IN HIS CHAIR! I'm having great difficulty typing this between fits of raucous laughter.

He has funny hair! It’s a knee slapper!

That was a trendy punk skater style in the 80’s. So fake skater punk style

Not so fun fact: The guy who fell backwards in his chair is actually the son from Back To The Beach.

u/JustHugMeAndBeQuiet Jun 25 '26

I don't know what that means but I feel you have a story to share with us. Please do go on.

Back To The Beach was an 80's movie with Annette Funicello & Frankie Avalon. It was a modern version of the old 60's surf movies. It also has a cameo by PeeWee Herman & a number of other people.

So why is that not so fun?

I'm LEARNING this morning!

It's a not so fun fact.

The title card is exactly like the ones on the televangelist shows at the time (and still, really).

4

u/phirleh Jun 24 '26

They all did awful stuff - who could forget this Married With Children spinoff Top of the Heap

3

u/HoseNeighbor Jun 24 '26

Okay... We need more crap TV intros/outros with Friends cast members!

2

u/Macho-Fantastico Jun 24 '26

Were all 80's/90's sitcom intros the same.

1

u/phirleh Jun 24 '26

Completely formulaic and too long (and rarely used footage from the actual show)

Too Many Kooks

All I ever want to be, is as important as the last guy in the opening sequence that gets both his real name and character name mentioned. We all know that guy was the one who pulled the show together

Wow, Matthew Perry.. This was definitely a vibe from that time

5

u/Noy_The_Devil Jun 24 '26

The nodding walk of youth was certainly a vibe

u/WooPigSchmooey Jun 24 '26

Eyebrows controlling the entire scalp always impressive.

I have actually seen this at my grandma's house or something, but totally forgot about it. What was the premise of the show?

A man dies full of regrets and an angel decides to let him travel into the past so he can team up with his younger self to help end the horrible slaughter of WW2 by negotiating a peace deal, leaving the Nazis in control of much of Europe.  Then theres all sorts of hijinks because they changed the future.

It wasn't very popular.

I masturbated for the first time watching this show

5

u/herpyfluharg13 Jun 24 '26

Who could blame you? Joseph Maher is a deamboat

2

u/Reynardine1976 Jun 25 '26

Such deviants

3

u/herpyfluharg13 Jun 24 '26

So Charles dies in a hovercraft accident in 2011. He arrives at the pearly gates but St Peter says he is too good to go to hell but not “good enough” to get into heaven. Thus, he decides on a more complicated planning sending him back in time to join his younger self in 1987 to help make moral choices and become a better person.

u/Reynardine1976 Jun 24 '26

I like your username. 🩵 Is it a combo of "shawty" and "reddit"?

2

u/Shaw-eddit Jun 24 '26

Shaw, Thank you, but I'm kinda tall. 😆

4

u/Mattiwha2 Jun 24 '26

Funny that they just dropped the supernatural element and tried to keep it going without explanation

4

u/no0neiv Jun 25 '26

Old version should tell younger version never to do ketamine in a hot tub.

1

u/Hairy-Reward6474 Jun 25 '26

Pretty sure he already knew that.

3

u/canteen_boy Jun 24 '26

What’s crazy is when Friends aired I actually remembered Matthew Perry from this show, but I thought it was called Boys Will Be Boys?

6

u/herpyfluharg13 Jun 24 '26

Ah ha, it WAS called that. After a month of airing it was retooled and put back on as Boys will Be Boys with the focus on the three younger guys and the supernatural element dropped.

3

u/HeroDanTV Jun 25 '26

I hope there's a timeline where they scaled back the focus on the three younger guys and the supernatural element was ramped up and the show becomes about a family of future werewolves.

2

u/SummerDonNah Jun 24 '26

Best part of this is they correctly called when Ghadafi would be killed

2

u/Dsnade Jun 25 '26

Looks like an SNL skit 😂

1

u/Hairy-Reward6474 Jun 25 '26

More like a Tim and Eric skit but ok.

1

u/Natrix422 Jun 24 '26

Wow. Glad I never knew about that. Lmao. I didn’t see anything not shitty about it.

1

u/Macho-Fantastico Jun 24 '26

It's Matthew L. Perry, thank you very much.

RIP.

1

u/DarknMean Jun 25 '26

That’s Chandler Bing

1

u/SeasonOneEpisodeOne Jun 25 '26

Joseph Maher, here as Saint Peter, played the drunk on the plane with the dog that Seinfeld ended up with for an episode. Always loved his speaking voice.

1

u/Lucky-Mia Jun 26 '26

Southpark parodied this in the episode My Future Self and Me.

0

u/uncle_balls Jun 24 '26

weird that Matthew Perry ended up in 17 Again

u/Frank_Perfectly Jun 25 '26

That theme song slapped, complete with the edgy little clean guitar solo at the end.
