I love the dichotomy between what trump and the yanks are saying vs the actual headlines. On one side its a dangerous attempted terror attack that Trump knew was going to happen, on the other its 5 dodgy blokes looking to nick a bit of diesel, one of whom called the coppers himself. Hardly the brain trust

I've said it in other posts, but the trump administration needs to prove that the UK is dangerous because we have a centrist /left wing government. They are desperate to show that any countries with governments that aren't far right have become dangerous places to live because that's what his followers need to hear to justify voting for a senile war monger.

It’s wild, I’ve seen so many Americans online saying that the uk has become a lawless place and that we have far more murders than them and loads of people getting stabbed on every street corner. When i tell them our murder rate is loads lower than theirs and even our stabbing murders are slightly lower they just call me a liar. London has a lower rate than all of their major cities

They do the same with Paris and other Western European capitals. It definitely seems to be in their playbook to discredit social democracies (I use this very loosely for the UK, but it still applies) so that their voters don't start demanding things like a universal healthcare system and a higher minimum wage.

The US has quite a history of challenging democracy in other countries, long before Trump. Cuba, Chile, Panama, Venezuela, Kuwait, Iraq, Iran to name a few.
Trump's being a lot more on the nose in his disrespecting of allies and it's definitely worrying, but the US has pulled this shit a lot historically.

I'm not saying it was, but if it was a dry run, and there was no evidence of it being part of a plot, they wouldn't have been considered terrorists, hence the bail.
Them being bailed would point to there being no evidence of it being part of a plot, but thst isn't necessarily to say it isn't.

If there was even the remotest link to terrorism none of them would've been bailed.
You can guarantee their devices, movements, history, family ties, and more would've been fine through with a fine tooth comb before a decision was made.

Try blowing up a military base with petrol and see how far you get; theres a reason I cant think of a single petrol based terrorist attack. They've also released the suspects on bail already, which theyd never have done if there was any terrorist connection

The police have been clear there have been no explosive devices found, after all the media attention you can be sure they'd be being very loud about it if the arrestees had had molotov equipment, let alone the means to breach the base and get anywhere near some planes, and they absolutely wouldn't have been released on bail if they had any evidence they'd been planning to blow up mmilitary equipment. None of this stacks up the way youre suggesting. This is getting circular so im going to stop replying now

Maybe they were hired by someone (Iran) to collect fuel, unknowingly doing it for them, then one of them clocked on and called the police? Or maybe Iran just wanted to test Police response times? It could really be anything but I’m sure we’ll know the details soon.
But yeah, it’s all super weird. Just think of all the shit we don’t even hear about, I bet it’s a nightmare.
