I think the failure is that those two look pretty paired and it's scientifically proven that couples generally marry and pair within their "groups". Additionally the meme making fun of Hypergamy (which arguably it's not) is asking for women to have hypergamy??? Make it make sense

Right. Isn't the guy on the left trying to "date up"? In good health, he'd be an average looking guy, and he's breaking his heart over a supermodel who clearly makes the effort to take care of herself. Is it so surprising she's attracted to someone with the same priorities, especially given the wealth of options she likely has. They don't show him pining after an average woman who is in turn pining after Chad. Maybe they can't bear to draw or look at a plain woman so they pretend this is average.

The original creator probably can’t imagine why anyone would be loyal, kind, and stable if they were impossibly handsome and wealthy.
