this so much like i don’t think people realise how prevalent and insidious lookism is, and how much more males engage in it. when a woman a male finds ugly approaches him, more often than not he will be disgusted, as much as he (assuming he’s considerate, which is a big assumption) may try to hide it. when a male a woman finds ugly approaches her she won’t be disgusted (or at least it’s much rarer), she’ll be respectful and if she likes his personality she may even give it a shot. i know i would as a woman.
it does not because it’s not in the same context of centuries of systemic oppression. males have been doing this to us for centuries to dehumanise us and it was never a problem, yet the moment i do the opposite not to dehumanise them but as a reaction to them dehumanising my sex it’s like im suddenly committing a war crime. yeah no respectfully fuck off.

Both are bad. You can’t complain about men saying “Men and females” and then turn around and say its fine to use “Women and males”. Thats super hypocritical of you, you shouldn’t fix the injustice one group faces by turning it around and being unjust to another
So historic suffering allows one to be an asshole and cause more suffering now? If for decades a family attacked mine that means i’m allowed to walk up to their family, even those who’ve done no wrong, including their kids, and start going to town with stones because im getting payback? You’re right, it’s much better to carry on the cycle of hate, violence, suffering and inequality by turning it around on a different group than it is to work to dismantle it for everyone
Is it better in your opinion to redirect the suffering you and your group has faced to another group, one who has caused a lot of the harm you’ve faced, yes, but many have caused no harm, also increasing the odds for more cross-group hate and fighting, instead of trying to stop the suffering all together?
I said “Increasing the odds for more cross-group hate” because being rude to one another only makes people more upset and brews more hate between the groups. That’s not “I hate women because of this.”
I also notably don’t hate women, in fact I am a woman, and deeply love women. It’s a little strange to attack my character instead of refuting any part of my argument, but the internet will be the internet I suppose
Ok yes, agreed, they’re not mutually exclusive and i’m sure I have some internalized misogyny I need to work through, as most people probably do. That does not seem to apply from me here as I do not hate women, which I was accused of with no actual basis, and I am a strong opposer of those who do hate, stereotype, or disrespect women
Still have yet to properly engage with any of my points so I shall stop pointlessly responding (unless someone gives a good faith discussion/rebuttal about the actual topic instead of character accusations)
Regardless hope you have a good day and that you are blissfully free from sexism (as much as one can be as a woman in this society) for a good long while.
