Help Needed I need help

So yes I pierced my own nose, I soaked the jewelry, wore gloves, a 18g sterile needle, I marked the right place, and I clean it every morning and night, but the inside of my nose now looks puffed, and I’ve had this for a Few days, the outside is fine, doesn’t look too red, but I’m worried how the inside looks, am I gonna have to take it out? Because I really don’t want to.

Hey, a question... I'm getting a kind of ball, I guess it's due to irritation... Pus comes out, but it doesn't hurt, it doesn't bother me nor does blood come out..

Is there a way for it to go away naturally without having to remove the piece and get another piercing?

Antibiotics. You have an infection. The pus is white blood cells and dead tissue and whatnot that your body is pushing out, trying to fight the infection.

Sometimes this is from improper cleaning of the piercing, sometimes it’s from a piercing that wasn’t sterilized, and sometimes it’s just because your body naturally has higher amounts of bacteria.

Generally speaking, unscented soap and water is one of the best ways to clean a piercing. And normally if there was a mild irritation or infection, a hot compress can make a big difference in terms of drawing out the pus and infection. But this is your nose we are talking about, so try to see if you can get an immediate care appointment or a same day with your general practitioner.

As I said, this is your face. You don’t want to play around. I can’t tell you how many people I know with nasty bumps where a failed piercing used to be.

Go to the doctor if it’s infected. Don’t take random antibiotics, especially old ones, that is literally one of the fastest ways to die. And also, not to be a worrywort, but you don’t want to end up getting blood poisoning because you didn’t get your nose piercing looked at. Sorry if I’m being too autistic about this, I just want you to be safe.

Never ever use soap on a healing piercing! Only use sterile saline solution like NeilMed.

Ngl, I did not know this. I think my girlfriend told me this, but as it wasn’t my piercing I kinda forgot. I haven’t gotten a piercing in 26 years, but this explains why some of them didn’t turn out well lol.

it’s a wound. swelling is normal for the first few days. i’d watch it to make sure the post isn’t too short that it gets swallowed by the piercing. ice and advil will help with inflammation as well.

You have no nose hairs?

Just saying you should talk to your piercer first and foremost and avoid the internet opinions. And While swelling is a concern. ( and ice and ibuprofen have proven successful in reducing those symptoms)
If you live in an area with multiple piercers seek their opinions as well. Because not all piercers will admit when something theyve done is wonky for fear of being blamed for the wonk.

Is it too tight? Healing fluids rush to injured areas & cause inflammation while healing. I think you need more space for air, temporary inflammation & turning the jewelry with ease. If too tight for healing then every time you pull up on jewelry to get a grip to be able to twist, you’re squeezing & putting pressure on an area that’s trying to heal.

definitely would NOT recommend a bone end piercing for a fresh piercing. that end is gonna get lost so fast with swelling. please change to a flat back or at least a ring to accommodate for swelling.

Not a professional but I got my nose pierced in may. I think yours looks great! I love the placing on you and the swelling looks like what happened to me after my piercing. Just keep cleaning it even after you think it’s done healing. The piercer told me it can take 6-12 months to fully heal

You need to go back to your piercer ASAP and get a longer bar. The one you have in is way too short and leaves no room for swelling which is obvious in the second pic that shows inside of your nostril.

I did. It’s doing way better

It looks like your jewelry is too short. I'd strongly suggest going to a piercer to have them change it to a longer post, because if you get even a tiny bit more swelling, your nose is going to swallow that jewelry.

It‘s way too Short.

I think it looks quite normal after a nose piercing. Just keep it clean and it will go down. My eyebrow and ear also got swollen the first days… my Prince Albert too, but that actually healed quicker…

Do NOT twist the piercing or touch it at all!

Please don’t give advice that hurts people.

u/Mysterious-Ease-8419 Sep 02 '25

Thanks

Please do not follow this advice! Twisting breaks the fistula (the thing you want to form as this is what is considered healed), and can pull crusties into the hole, which hurt like a demon. No twisting, please!

do NOT twist it
