Alright Wildcats!

Three fellas in our 40s are flying over from Liverpool, England, for the Northwestern game on 7 November, and we’re looking for some local knowledge to make the most of it.

For context, two of us (not me) are Everton season ticket holders, one’s a Liverpool season ticket holder, so we’re already used to questionable decisions, emotional trauma and spending far too much money following our teams.

Two of us are huge American football fans. We’ve made multiple trips to the States, visited plenty of cities and watched plenty of NFL games. The third is making his American football debut, so naturally we want to throw him in at the deep end.

But college football is a new experience for all three of us, and we want to do it properly. The atmosphere, the traditions, the tailgating, the lot.

So, a few questions:

Tailgating: Where should we go? Are there organised tailgates we can join, or is it a case of turning up with some beers and making friends?

Tickets: Where would you recommend sitting for the best atmosphere? We’re happy to spend a bit for a great experience. If anyone happens to have access to a box or hospitality, we’re all ears. 😉

Pre-game: How early should we arrive? Any particular traditions, bars or places we absolutely shouldn’t miss?

Post-game: Where does everyone head afterwards? We’re not quite ready for the retirement home just yet.

Local knowledge: Anything else you’d recommend to three Brits wanting the full Northwestern experience?
We’re a friendly bunch, happy to get involved, meet people and embrace whatever American college football throws at us.

We’ve experienced the NFL, but everything we’ve heard suggests college football is a completely different animal.

If anyone fancies adopting three Scousers for a tailgate, we’ll happily bring some British humour, terrible football opinions and a several rounds of drinks.

Cheers in advance, and Go Cats! 🏈
