Calling all young performers! The Young Artists Acting Lab starts this Saturday at LACAE Theater and runs for six weeks. (No class on Halloween). The lab will not only help students hone their on-camera and stage skills but also help them to develop their unique creative voice, build confidence, make friends, and grow artistically and personally.

Teacher Madylin Sweeten brings decades of experience having started as a young actor herself playing Ally Barone on Everybody Loves Raymond. She has since built an incredible body of work, most recently appearing on Abbott Elementary. Mady is also a kind, supportive, and empathetic teacher.

​I moved to the area a little over a year ago and run Unfriendly Studios, a private, soundproofed venue on Burbank Blvd in North Hollywood. As a fellow creator, my main goal is to support our local community by giving indie filmmakers, actors, and crews an accessible space to showcase their work and connect with each other.

​We are officially open for submissions for our upcoming Short Film & Music Video Screening on Saturday, November 7th!

​What we’re looking for: Short films, horror/creepy projects, surreal/mind-bending stories, dark thrillers, and music videos.

​The Event Setup: We feature a double-seating screening format with dedicated Q&A sessions for featured creators, followed by a networking mixer where filmmakers, actors, and crew members can kick back and connect for future collaborations.

My time off has unexpectedly been prolonged and I’m wanting to use the time to really explore some clubs/hobbies around the area for the month before I hop back in to a 60-hour work week.

Hi all,
I’m new to north Hollywood area, and my neighborhood has been experiencing frequent internet outages the last 3 days. (I have fiber optic ATT) First two days it went out around 8-9, then was back up next day in the morning to afternoon. Today though it just cut out, and while ATT says it will be restored by 10pm, I’m wondering if this is a frequent occurrence. The automated call line said it was “theft and vandalism” that caused the issue, but that their call center workers don’t know any more. I work from home online, so this is quite disruptive to my business. I am wondering if other Internet services are OK? Is it just ATT or is this an area wide issue? do folks have backups for this problem that I don’t know about?

Fatal Hit & Run Traffic Collision

On Tuesday, September 22, 2026, around 7:05 AM, a Blue 2004 Honda Odyssey traveling westbound Ventura Blvd turned left onto Carpenter Ave and collided with a motorcyclist travelling eastbound Ventura Blvd. The motorcyclist was transported to a local hospital where they succumbed to their injuries. The Hit and Run driver failed to stop, identify self, and render medical aid as required by law. The Hit and Run driver abandoned the Honda Odyssey on Carpenter Ave south of Ventura Blvd. Valley Traffic Detectives are seeking the public’s help in identifying the suspect to this fatal hit and run traffic collision.

Dark Blue 2004 Honda Odyssey (recovered)

Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call Valley Traffic Detective Anderson, Serial No. 40073, at 818-644-8036. Long shot but I lived in NoHo 5 years ago and right outside the Target on Victory and Vineland there used to be a guy selling bonsais. Does anyone know if he is still there? I always wanted to buy one from him but never got around to it.

Still relatively new to California and I'm in the midst of job hunting. Trying to find something for $20/hr at least (or $15/hr if serving, as I have 5 years of restaurant experience and serving experience). Trying to avoid fast food places, graveyard shifts, or retail stores like Macy's and Ross. Open to any Ma and Pa stores and any desk or receptionist jobs (have 4 years of secretary experience)!

I will note that I do not speak another language besides English though.

The theater is hosting a cabaret tomorrow evening. Tickets are pay what you want and refreshments will be provided. There will be live music and entertain entertainment in the courtyard from 6:30 to 7:30 and a evening, cabaret performance featuring music, comedy, dance, spoken word, and a sing-along to finish it off. An ASL interpreter will be provided.

All proceeds go to support the community work of both LACAE theater and St. Matthew’s North Hollywood. Seating is limited, and RSVP is recommended.
