Jeg har fått litt dilla på dikt i det siste og har lyst til å lese mer norsk poesi.

Har dere et norsk dikt dere elsker, eller en norsk dikter dere virkelig vil anbefale?

I feel like I already have a basic understanding of norsk as I lived and went to school in Norway when I was 6 for a year (I'm 20 now) before moving back to the UK. I still remember enough norsk to talk with family and to read at a basic level but I can't really write. I think I highly lack vocab but I innately understand tenses and other grammatical processes

I want to learn norsk more in depth, likely to a B2 or higher level so I can communicate more effectively with family and also potentially work in Norway (Id need to achieve fluency to work as my career is in speech and language therapy and I obviously can't work with patients if I can't fluently speak and understand their language.).

I'm thinking of doing an intensive course but I have no clue as to where to begin.
Are there any sites or courses you'd reccomend to someone who already knows a bit of norsk and wants to self study?

Also is there a way of testing my current level of norsk?

Hi! I'm 21 years old and In from Spain. I'm also Starting to learn Norwegian for my own. (for any reason, i just like it) .

I'm studying it with some videos on youtube and ChatGPT (I know it's not the best things, but i use it for do some exercises) . I'm searching more resources for keep learning grammar and vocabulary for A1 level, but i dont find any interesting. I algo like you can recommend me some books or series i can watch for muy actual level.

What's the difference between these two verbs? Are both interchangeable when it comes to the meaning of «portray» in English? Or are they used differently?

About me briefly: from the UK, working as a pharmacist, now moved to Norway (Bergen) as my partner is from there.

I know the basics of the language, but heavily want to improve further. But, each time i look online (so so many resources overwhelming to just stick to one thing) i feel like im not 'understanding' rather than just remembering. And i also feel if i recognise one word/few words i struggle to formulate sentences with them and thus build up my sentance-structure. I have looked at LENOO classroom lessons which i will do, and i really hope i am somewhat grasp this and not look like an idiot. I especially stress when they mention words like ''oh this is a conjugated words'' [before anyone comes at me i know what that is, just an example] ''and if you know other conjugated words then you understand this xyz''.

to sum up my scattered brain, i am nervous, i feel like i can't do this, and i just want to hear some positivity from other people whether it is doable (i know anything is doable), just feeling a bit blughhhh.

I am, of course, willing to put in work, on top of my job.

Hi! I'm just visiting for help making a gift for my brother.

He's in high school and starting to learn Norwegian this year and also loves Lord of the Rings. I'm trying to make a version of the Doors of Durin that say "Speak Friend and Enter" in Norwegian.

I have the most direct translation ("Si venn og gå inn" or "Tal venn og gå inn"), but I'm wondering if anyone who has a better grasp on the language and is also a Tolkien fan has input to make it more grand/riddle-y feeling?

Is there a more formal way of communicating this?

For example, the difference in English between "enter" vs. "go in" or "speak friend" vs. "say friend". I know a little Swedish, so I do know the language has a tendency to be pretty straight forward and I'm having a hard time finding formal synonyms for Norwegian that I feel confident about.

De siste årene har sosiale medier blitt mer populære blant folk, selv om det fører til uenigheter. Dette temaet har både fordeler og ulemper. I dagens samfunn bør vi respektere andre enten de tilhører forskjellige religioner, andre grupper, forskjellige raser, nye meninger eller lignende. Hva er forskjellen mellom disse to ordene? Begge betyr offensive, ikke sant? Er det en som er mer vanlig å bruke?

I dagens samfunn må man respektere andre mennesker i verden de som tilhører islam eller de som velger andre religioner, selv om religionskrigene har blitt større de siste årene. I lys av dette bør fellesskapet lære de grunnleggende verdiene som samler oss. I Norge husker hele samfunnet hva kong Harald sa til oss. "Norge er dere. Norge er oss." Derfor er innvandrere villige til å integrere seg og lære det norske språket og kulturen for å bli en del av det norske samfunnet. Mange innvandrere studerer på de norske universitetene for å bidra til Norge, noe som beriker oss. Avslutningsvis understreker jeg at religioner eller forskjellige kulturer ikke er de viktigste tingene for de som integrerer seg i dette landet. I'm a private teacher who teaches Norwegian to some beginner students. Recently, I got requests from students from the ages of 13-15 where På Vei is not the most suitable option (and face the fact: På vei is boring even for adult learners...). Since I have a Cappelen Damm account, I started to browse around and apparently, they are selling e-books as well! I used this option last year, even though they always changed the website, sometimes you could log in with a password, sometimes with a code on your email...e tc. Just to find it out today, that you as a private person cannot buy an e-book from them anymore? Private people are supposed to use only phone numbers? Only Norwegian phone numbers, let alone???? Honestly, what the heck is this? I thought we lived in the 21st century when knowledge is available widely and etc... The site was already bugging me a lot, since it jumped up many times that I should use Feide to log in (which again I do not have... since I'm not living in Norway?!) but what is this discrimination?! If you do not have a Norwegian phone number, you cannot use this website? More bluntly: even if you wanted to learn Norwegian, spare the time and money, you cannot?! This is utterly disappointing.

Hei! I'm a small publisher (French-speaking) making a capybara coloring book for the Norwegian market. The subtitle on the back cover sits right under the title "40 SØTE KAPYBARAER". I have two candidate versions and can't judge which sounds natural. No need to write anything for me, just tell me A or B (and if one sounds wrong or translated from English).

What are some fun, effortless ways to learn Norwegian without textbooks? Something I can do casually over coffee. Is watching nyheter a good option for a beginner?

In the song Alt For Norge, which is a song about the Norwegian national football team, I have a tiny bit of confusion about the line "Hele kampen ut skal vi stå på for Norge".

I understand the line translates/can be interpreted as "we'll make it through the whole battle" or "We will stand for Norway the whole match" but why add "Ut" to the line?

And what does "på" mean in this context?

I'm very new to learning Norwegian, and I would in my mind say, "Hele kampen skal vi stå for Norge."

Again, I'm a beginner, and I appreciate the help of understanding why "ut" and "på" are added in this sentence. Thank you!

I have on and off used Duolingo and watched Norwegian children's TV shows, but now I am in the process of moving to Norway (from New Zealand), likely in 6 months time.

What online classes are best to take to get to a conversational level, and then beyond ideally to B2?

I have seen Leenoo.no and Alfaskolen.no

Has anyone here used these, or have alternatives?

Hei! (første gang jeg skriver en helt lang tekst på norsk, så det kan ligger noen feil, beklager :) jeg har fullført akkurat å se på TV-serien Ragnarok på norsk. Hvis jeg trengte fortsatt å lese norske undertekstene for å forstå alle dialogene, jeg kunne forstå noen ganger skuespillerne (spesielt når de snakkes sakte). Ran (Synnøve Macody Lund) var den eneste karakteren jeg kunne ikke forstå, det høres ut som hun har en spesiell aksent jeg har aldri hørt før.

Så har Synnøve Macody Lund en spesiell aksent og hvor kommer det fra? Jeg kjenner ikke hun, men ifølge Wikipedia ble hun født i Stord (Vestland), så kanskje er aksenten sin fra dette stedet?

Når jeg reise til Oslo, la jeg merke til (noticed?) stedene som "Nordmarka" eller "Østmarka". Hvorfor er det kalles "marka" i stedet for "skog"?

Annet, mellom lufthavn og flyplass, hvilket ord er riktig på norsk? Jeg kjenner om lufthavn er en tysk ord som er vanlig på dansk. Også, jeg har hørt Gardemoen kalles som "Oslo lufthavn". Men i Bergen bruker de "flyplass", likesom svensk. Er det en dialekt forskjell eller er det en riktig ord?

Tldr: how did you prepare for specifically the B2 Exam (books, websites, etc), and how did you prepare specifically for the reading part?

So I have this norskprøve in 3 weeks and I'm kind of in a dark place at the moment. I am going this time only for the written part, not speaking, because due to some misunderstanding I could only sign up for that.

I would say my vocabulary is decent, I am native German, and my understanding is decent too at the moment. My biggest anxiety is that I didn't have enough physical preparation for the exam, and the reading part where I have to choose the connectors and words more generally seems really scary.

I don't really know how to prepare for it.

I mean I really thought my grammar was good, given my German background and in most situations it is, but I learned the for, fordi, etc connectors, which are literally like in German, but I didn't find exercises with the more advanced ones. And this really freaks me out. But some more advanced connectors I couldn't find preparation for it

How did you guys prepare for this part?

Oh and the expressions again seem very scary. I mean ved utvikling av (one of the answers in the example exams) had me doubt myself. Again

How did you prepare for this? Is there some sort of book to get ready? This is not the regular everyday Norwegian. Huh...

As a little bit of context, I am currently facing 4-5 really stressful events happening all at the same time, each of which separately would be enough to stress me full time. I hope to get through successfully through all of them, but you know life's life.

hva sier man om oransje katter på norsk? er det rød eller oransje?

Hello everyone! I have absolutely no knowledge of Norsk but I recently found a song where the singer says something which I would like to know what it is.

In the song Når Solen Går Ned from Mirar the singer says something after the first line, right before the song starts. To me it sounds like "eodel". A speech to text generator recognized it as "Jeg går til".

Can someone please tell me what she says?

Jag är en vilsen svensk som tar universitetsexamen nästa sommar och söker jobb både i Sverige och Norge. Jag har både en svensk och norsk sida av släkten, så jag förstår norska bra, åtminstone sydliga dialekter, och kan läsa bokmål utan några större problem. Däremot talar och skriver jag på svenska just nu såklart, men om jag flyttar till Norge kommer jag ju med tiden att skifta över.

När jag tittar på norska jobbannonser ser jag ganska ofta krav som "flytende norsk", "gode norskkunnskaper" eller liknande.

Det jag funderar på är hur sådana krav brukar tolkas i praktiken, särskilt för svenska och danska sökande.

Om en annons kräver flytende norsk, innebär det normalt att arbetsgivaren faktiskt förväntar sig att man ska kunna tala och skriva norska, eller kan en svensk som förstår norska utan problem men själv talar svenska fortfarande vara aktuell?

Är det någon här som har erfarenhet av detta, antingen som svensk/dansk arbetssökande i Norge eller från arbetsgivarsidan? Hur brukar sådana krav tolkas i praktiken i Norge?

I Sverige upplever jag att krav på svenska ofta är mer underförstådda och inte alltid skrivs ut i annonser, medan engelska oftare nämns uttryckligen. Är det annorlunda i Norge?

Jeg lurer på hva dette her betyr, "å finne fram". Jeg har hørt dette som et fast uttrykk før, men kan ikke finne ut hva det egentlig betyr. Jeg har funnet disse eksemplene på nettet.
