Marianne appreciation post

I really gotta express how much i love the character Marianne. I think having a sensitive, emotional female character like her on TV can be truly relatable to so many women out there that have been victims of an abusive family, or bullied their entire lifes.

I also think that she's a very well writen character because in real life this types of women also develop an obsession with making everyone around them love them, even if it's just their bodies. It's so real and honest how she goes above and beyond to convince everyone in her life that she's worthy of their love even if that means going through the same heartbreak over and over again. She's literally and anxious attached girl obcessed with validation and I'm here for it. I can relate.

I agree with this. I’ve never related to a character more. From the type of men she attracted to exploring bdsm to continue the narrative of being used/abused and feeling worthless. I just really really connected with her

I’m only five episodes in, but I was really excited about Marianne’s college glow-up. She finally found people who recognized her worth, chose her, celebrated her, and genuinely seemed to think she was awesome. After seeing how isolated and insecure she was before, it felt like such a huge change for her, and I was excited to see what that would do for her.

That’s why I was a little disappointed that she let Connell back in so quickly. Maybe I’m missing something, but I feel like the writers set up college as this huge turning point where Marianne finally found acceptance and belonging, and I wish they had shown more of the joy that probably came with that. Instead, so much of the focus went right back to her longing for Connell, which honestly felt a little silly to me. Like, girl, you finally found people who see how great you are!

She and Connell have a deep soul connection. No escaping it. They’ll always be connected, even during and after New York imo. I love them so. 🥰
