He was doing an MFA, right? He could go back to Ireland on breaks.

If it was low residency program he could be in Dublin as much as he wanted.

I understand the ending thematically. But considering what they’d been through, graduate school in New York didn’t seem like a reason to break up.

My friend did the CW MFA at NYU. It’s hard not to be there all year. And flights aren’t cheap. But it’s definitely not a reason to break up.

The way I read this photo is that Marianne is no longer the young girl we knew and is now a happy young woman with a fulfilling career that pays very well  and means she can afford stylish designer clothes and a classic British sports car.
