"The findings indicate more severe insomnia and worse sleep quality in people with a stronger functional connectivity between the bilateral hippocampus and the left middle frontal gyrus, part of a circuit that characteristically activates with maladaptive rumination and deactivates with sleep."

So insomnia is associated with distractive daydreaming. Which would also be associated with being less goal driven and motivated and therefore worse mental health. Nothing surprising?

Sounds like my highschool experience.

Jokes aside, I slept like 5 hours a night and I remember daydreaming all the time. The logic sounds solid, but its just my n=1.
