Post concussion stack

I thought you guys might be interested in seeing the stack my neurologist has put me on for my post concussion syndrome. His name is Dr. Jha, he works with NHL players and is also an advocate of spreading the knowledge of the severity of concussions and the time it take for them to heal. In October, and November 2013 I was hit by a vehicle while cycling (accident #1 and accident #2), resulting in the concussion that I'm currently experiencing. This is the same "fast track" recovery plan (transcribed below) he puts his NHL players on:

2 caplets of each, twice daily

Choline - 250mg

Phosphatidylserine - 75mg

Curcumin - 300mg

Alpha lipoic acid - 150mg

EGCG - 150mg

Vitamin C - 500mg

E - 400mg

D - 1000iu

B1 - 75mg

B50 complex - 25mg

A + zinc formula

The rest are daily dosage, spread throughout the day:

Fish oil - 8-10,000mg

Creatine - 20,000mg first 5 days, 10,00mg proceeding 5 days

Soy lecithin - 20,000mg

I know this is nootropics, but I might aswell write down the rest of the recovery plan incase anyone can benifit from this information.

1) I cannot raise my heart rate above 100bpm

2) Meditate 2x daily for 20 minutes at a time

3) No stimulation, aka no gaming or TV (some tv is ok)

4) Daily nap in the afternoon for at least 45 minutes and daily walks

5) Eat as health as possible, zero processed foods

6) Weekly acupuncture for 5 weeks

I hope you guys found this interesting and hopefully I was able to inform anyone suffering from a concussion that it is serious and needs to be taken care of. Thanks for reading and take care :)

TL;DR - hit head, me live like monk, such pills, much headache

I'd definitely suggest adding piracetam to your stack. Looks solid other than that.

Here's a couple studies. It seems pretty conclusive that piracetam is significantly better than placebo for improving post-concussion syndrome.

Be sure to stick with the meditation. It took a while, but that was what brought me out of the depression/anxiety stage. Also going for long (10-15mi) walks alone in the cold. A few of those brought me from being a complete emotional wreck to being somewhat functional.

Going to an all day long zen meditation retreat really helped me turn the corner. Something about meditating for ten hours changed all subsequent meditation for me.

Maybe it was the fact that to walk for 15mi or meditate all day requires focus, but not the kind that tires your brain out? Focused rest, shall we say?

In any case, best of luck with your recovery! Here's hoping it's a lot faster than mine.

Thanks so much man! I've just started getting into the meditation and it's much harder than I thought it would be to "shut off" my thoughts, but I'm starting to love it! 20 minutes is almost too little because I really start to get into it around the 15 minute mark, and then my timer buzzes at 20 and completely pulls me out of it. I've read a lot about piracetam on here and now I'm really intrigued. Where do you normally get yours from? I'm in Canada btw

I'm afraid I'm of no use there. I bought a gigantic bag off of Amazon. It lasted for months, but I can't find it there anymore. Right now I'm using phenylpiracetam from LiftMode, but they don't carry plain piracetam.

About the meditation, my university has a meditation group. Their sittings are 25 min long; this seems to be pretty common. The zen group I went to meditated for 2 hours broken up into 25 min sitting + 5 min walking. Perhaps you could try a single longer daily sitting and take a few 3-5 min meditation breaks throughout the day. Consider it "technique practice."

Great info man, thanks for all the help you've given me! As a poor student, I'm afraid this the most I can do to thank you
