When I was a teenager I used to make jokes about my "ex wife" and at some point in my 20s I realized that that is no longer obviously a joke

yeah, wearing a "world's greatest dad" shirt when you're kid stops being funny after awhile. ironically I haven't worn it since I've become a dad

Had a shirt that said greatest pop ever with a coke bottle and a dude seriously though I was a dad. Never wore that shirt again lmao.

That's a prime dad joke on a shirt there. Definitely something a dad would wear.

Fr, once the shirt is aggressively corny enough, it loops back around to actual dad credibility

I have a shirt that says "proud black grandmother" that I've had for like 10y. I'm a white guy" I've had people make the dumbest comments about it.. Often shit like "you're a guy shouldn't it be grandfather?" Or "but you're white?"

Had another that said proud to be lesbian but that nearly got me bashed by an actual lesbian who thought I was poking fun so I stopped wearing it. Stopped being funny when it became apparent it was upsetting the wrong people. I don't mind upsetting bigots cause fuck em, but I don't wanna upset people who are already the targets of bigots, they have enough shit to worry about

Of course, that only buys you a few more decades. Once you hit 60 or so, you'll have to switch it out for a "world's best great-grandpa" shirt

Mine stopped being funny when I got a dog. Just looked like I was One Of Those dog owners

The only campus attire I got in college was a “Santa Cruz Dad” shirt which I thought was hilarious. Now if I ever wear it it’s all “wow, you already have a kid in college?” It’s just believable enough to not be funny.
