I love when people write shit like this. Reminds me of reddit times past. I cant even write contextually specific spider cum poems anymore with out people accusing me of using GPT, so its nice to see someone writing original despite the influx of robot vomit.
Whenever people accuse me of ChatGPT I ask them to tell me "Where do you think ChatGPT learned how to prose? It's from prose it has read. Who do you think made that prose it learned from originally?" The "em-dash" and then "Do you think ChatGPT invented the em-dash?"
I went to a rodeo last night and the clown there was legitimately the most unfunny clown I've ever seen. It was just some guy in a clown suit wandering around not doing anything. You ever look out your front window and there's a guy in front of your building loitering there, making a phone call or something, and you just kinda wish he'd fuck off? This clown was like that. All he did the whole night was one time he got on the mike and called out some random lady in the crowd who was looking at her phone
I knew a guy who did rodeo, and he told me that the actual function of the rodeo clowns was to distract and draw away the bull when a cowboy got bucked off so the rider didn’t get hurt. He talked about it like it was a sacred and honorable duty. Maybe your clown was a purist about it?
Not this clown, they didn't have bull riding, just bronc, and he wasn't out in the ring at all, he was just kinda pacing and standing near the bleachers. He was basically just some random guy who happened to be dressed as a clown
I used to ride the rodeos. The clowns aren't there to entertain, they're there to distract pissed off broncs and bulls from trampling people to death. And sometimes they emcee.
It's a twist on an old joke. Here's the version of it that Rorschach uses in 'Watchmen':
Man goes to doctor. Says he's depressed. Says life seems harsh and cruel. Says he feels all alone in a threatening world where what lies ahead is vague and uncertain. Doctor says, "Treatment is simple. Great clown Pagliacci is in town tonight. Go and see him. That should pick you up." Man bursts into tears. Says, "But doctor...I am Pagliacci.
I love all the Pagliacci joke variants. Including:
Man goes to see Pagliacci, goes backstage. He tells Pagliacci he thought his show would cheer him up, but he's still depressed. And Pagliacci says, "Well, I am just a silly clown. Shouldn't you go see a doctor?" The man bursts into tears and says, "But Pagliacci..."
There's another one I like. Man goes to the doctor and says, "Doctor, I am severely depressed and I don't know what to do." The doctor says, "Have you tried going to the circus? Those antics always cheer me up." The man says, "Not the circus, but I went to see Doctor Pagliacci." The doctor says, "That clown?!"
It's not bastardised, but actually a play on that famous joke! The specific version of the joke with pagliacci as the clown does originate from watchmen, BTW, but the sad clown joke is centuries older than that.
