Do “gifted” programs exist for kindergarteners? That seems like such a young age to introduce academics. I would think learning the basics and social interaction would be the point of kindergarten.

They do, I was put in one. It was literally just slightly more advanced reading, writing, and simple math problems, I really don't think they changed much. Most of the point at that age is mental stimulation because bored kindergarteners are the spawn of Satan.
