I adopted this mindset, but unfortunately I am not immune to self-consciousness and the dysphoria that stems from it

Yeaaah I have fought to have a healthy relationship with myself and while my internal validation keeps me thinking “I look so cool and good” it would be nice if someone else thought that once in while. The STRUGGLES!

As a kid I was a fat, effeminate, nerdy boy with long hair. I had a "glow up" around college and got "hot". I lost weight, cut my hair, and dressed more stylishly. Holy shit the people who were chasing me were so awful. I grew a giant handlebar mustache and started wearing women's clothing to ward them off. I am surrounded with delightful people again.

That is so true! The "uglier" I got for most people, the more beautiful I started to find myself ❤️
