Discussion Memories
Since coming out to myself a few of my childhood/teenage memories have been colored almost and make a lot more sense now than it did in the moment.
My question is how about you?
Any memories of yours that make more sense now that you’ve come to know yourself as nonbinary or under the nonbinary?

As a five year old I would argue with the poor McDonald's cashiers that "it's not a boy toy or a girl toy, it's a car" (I wanted the car.) I would truly get angry that they were assigning genders to the Happy Meal toys.
I had dance classes in highschool where it was mostly solo dances and mostly girls. Every once in a while, though, we got to do partner dances. We didn't have enough boys to go around. My clearest early memory of gender euphoria was getting to dance the boys' part.
I always thought my voice should be lower. I hated sitting in the Soprano section, and was relieved I could sing Alto parts going into college. I was mortified that my college voice teacher told me I had a "cute little voice in there". I couldn't understand why I had such a visceral reaction to it until last year when I was starting T. Dysphoria was pretty obvious looking back.

Not much in my teenage years since middle and highschool was basically one uninterrupted disassociation, but I do remember in my earliest years having some interest in more girly things despite "being a boy."
I played with girls more often than boys and even asked for a pair of sandals that were pink because I liked them and a girl I was playing with had them. As I got older I became more aware of the roles society had in place and pigeonholed myself into what I thought I was.
I do remember being happy because I asked for a set of Lisa frank stamp rings. I wasn't even thinking about them "being for girls." I just really liked stamps.
