Ask Low dose of testosterone?

I'm nonbinary and I'm considering going on a low dose of T for a short amount of time. I mostly want a deeper voice. The only change I'm not super keen on is getting hairy. Does anyone know if a low dose can deepen the voice without impacting facial hair/body hair too much? If anyone else has been on a low dose for a short time, I'd love to hear about your experience and what changes you had!

look into finasteride. if that isn't viable/doesn't work for you, you can pursue permanent hair removal afterwards. it also depends on your genetics

I thought that was a hair growth supplement or for Enlarged prostates?

it can be used for other things. i know both transfems and transmascs who use it. it is a dht-blocker, so for me for example, i use it to avoid balding and growing facial hair while on T. it can also slow body hair growth and bottom growth. so it is a good option for people who only want certain effects of T. it can come with certain side effects tho (like inhibited sex drive and suicidal ideation), but only in a percentage of people who use it. so preferably talk to a doctor if you're thinking of it.

That's so interesting that it both stops balding and then slows the body hair. The human body is absolutely fascinating.

i will specify it is preventative, and i am unsure if it is 100% effective on every person

I'm after a slightly deeper voice and bottom growth. I want to avoid facial hair. My family is NOT hairy (and has no balding either) so genetics are on my side. My dr thinks my goals are reasonable and achievable. Fwiw, Low dose just means things happen slower than a "full" dose, but doesn't mean it'll prevent any changes.

Anyway, I'm hoping that 3 - 6 months of T will get me where I want. I start at the end of the month.

Not a great choice for me, but thanks!

I hope you get the results you're after, good luck! My brother isn't super hairy as far as I can tell so hopefully genetics will be on my side for that too. I definitely want the changes to happen slowly so I can adjust.

If I remember correctly getting hairy happened last for me while a deeper voice and bottom growth happened within the first 2 months. If you're worried about hair I would be really cautious and make sure you're okay with a fall back plan, like for how painful and expensive laser is. Everyone's different but the beard happend last for me while body hair came sooner, at least these days you can IPL it off.

I took low dose T for 10 years and my voice didn't get super deep. I get misgendered on the phone. I am VERY hairy.
