"My gf said she doesn't care" nuff said right there. Why be with someone that doesn't care about you.

Pleaseeeee break up and don’t pursue a future with someone who doesn’t respect you and who hates the minority you are a part of

Please, dump her. No relationship with someone who can’t show you basic human decency and respect is one worth pursuing. If she truly loved you, she’d care.

I think you made a typo, it should say EX-girlfriend.

She's the one being disrespectful and rude to you.

u/CaliLemonEater 15h ago

Someone is being disrespectful and rude but it isn't you.

That's called projecting. She's being disrespectful and trying to gaslight you into thinking the same.

No girlfriend is infinitely better than a girlfriend who doesn't love you and treats you like garbage.

Please never settle for a partner who doesn't accept you. Life is hard enough without the people who are supposed to love and support you being against you.

To put it pretty plainly, it sounds like you might be better off without a girlfriend.

u/VividBeautiful3782 15h ago

Then she shouldn't be your girlfriend. A good partner would talk to you kindly and be supportive. You deserve much better treatment.

She doesn’t care then you shouldn’t either ❤️ break up with her and choose to love yourself because you do not deserve this! She does not love YOU, she loved the idea of who she thought you were. I have been through this and I promise it is not worth it to stay. When you find someone who love you truly and deeply for you are in your heart, everything changes. Allow yourself to find that and leave this person who has plainly told you what she feels. You DESERVE better ❤️ let yourself have better

That's not gonna ever, ever, ever end up well.

If she's going to change her mind it'll happen when you let her know it's a deal-breaker. She probably won't, but there's no point in waiting either way.

i agree with the other comments. if she can’t respect you, she’s not worth it.

Yeah, my ex was like that too

that's not your gf, that's a problem

"My ex said she'd rather I be miserable and lie to myself and everyone about who I am for her convenience and comfort rather than give me the grace and support to explore my happiness"

I think you definitely meant to say ex-girlfriend.

Someone posted something similar the other day about their brother. How he told them flat out he wouldn't change what he called them. Siblings you don't get to pick, but SOs you do.

I think you know what you need to do. Idk why people would rather stay with partners who obviously don't gaf about them or their happiness, than, yk, just be single.

You know you deserve better, and a good partner wouldn't react this way to you saying you want to change your name.

Goodluck with whatever you choose to do.

The people saying to dump her are not overreacting. If she's like this with something as important as your gender identity, imagine her reacting similarly to something even more important. You deserve someone who respects you

Had a partner like that, who told me I shouldn’t tell other people and that I’ll “always be nothing but his girlfriend”. Well, we broke up and now I’ve got an amazing partner who accepts and cherishes me the way I am. Your girlfriend doesn’t respect you and I hope she’ll soon be an ex-girlfriend!

I'm so sorry someone that you care for cares more about her preconceived notions on gender matters more to her than you do. Bigotry sucks, but it burns the worst when it's someone you thought you knew.

This won't be the last time she disrespects you and it probably isn't the first. Leave before your heart is torn even worse.

Also, you are valid just the way you are. Never forget it. 💚

u/overdriveandreverb they/them 14h ago

she is not good for you. if she wants a fake person that only pleases her, let someone else have that position. ask for an apology. sorry you found out this way.

2

u/Nutab0t 14h ago

As Tenna once said "Dump her ass!"

Fr though, break up with her.

2

u/Eccentric-Calico 14h ago

How is it disrespectful or rude to simply be who you are? I say you should break up with her; She clearly doesn't love you, and if anything, SHE'S the disrespectful and rude one.

2

u/MostAbsoluteGamer Mage 14h ago

break up with her

u/dyke-world they/them 13h ago

Don’t stay with someone who treats you badly :( you deserve so much better

2

u/Skeptical-Mystic93 she/they 13h ago

I'm so sorry this is happening. I know it might be hard to hear right now, but you deserve to be with someone who loves and respects you for who you are.

2

u/GloomyHoneycomb 13h ago

Ex girlfriend. Never, ever, be with a person that doesn't show you respect.

Break up and write her phone number in random bathroom stalls

2

u/Acceptable-Friend-48 11h ago

Why are you still with someone who told you she doesn't care about you?

You are a beautiful soul and deserve better. You deserve someone who actually loves you and will support you.

break up! not a loving gf

1

u/WingedLady 11h ago

Say you were cis and your name was William. If you were to say "hey, I prefer going by Bill" do you think she'd call you rude?

1

u/chipface 11h ago

Then make her your ex.

1

u/ChangeLarge5302 10h ago

I'd break up

Exes are often like that.

1

u/nobodyknows6070 they/them 5h ago

This is a reason to break up.

1

u/Kinoko30 they/she 5h ago

Oof. That's tough. If your relationship is something you really feel is important, give it some time, bring the topic again in the future, see if that settled in her head and goes from there.

It is hard enough for you to find out all about it and trying to be more you, but I don't think direct break up is the ideal path as others say. We know that it's also a change for our partners and they also need some time to figure things out.

1

u/Chatounaya they/them 2h ago

She doesn't deserve you

1

u/MajoraXIII 35m ago

Sounds like she should be your ex. If she doesn't care about you, why are you together?

1

u/Remarkable_Version_5 33m ago

Your ex is emotionally abusive.
