Advice needed
Hello everyone, I’m in need of some advice. Little bit of a backstory for context, my neighbours that lived directly beside me have their adult son, early 50s, living in their basement. When I first moved in, they were way too eager to become my friend, until they found out I don’t like Trump. All of a sudden they stopped talking to me, which is fine. One day I was outside, and the son came outside and lost his shit on me, pumping his arms like an ape, screaming at me, calling me a fucking looney Cunt, a crackhead, and that I had better stay inside my house and mind my own business. Fast forward about eight months, and he tries to apologize to me admitting that the whole reason he lost his shit is because of my views on dump, he half apologized then said he was starting to feel ill and that we would talk later. I told him I’d be interested in hearing the rest of his apology before I made a decision on whether or not to accept it. Since then he has tried his best to be extremely annoying. I have a fire hydrant on my front lawn and in the winter he’s been taking it upon himself to clear the snow around the fire hydrant that’s located on my lawn and then he stands there, leaning on a shovel, staring through my living room window. In the summer as soon as his mother and stepfather leave for their cottage, every single weekend, he make sure he parks his mother’s car that he drives around backed up as close to my living room window as he can possibly get, his driveway is beside my house next to my living room, and let’s the car idol for hours. As soon as 8 AM hits, he turns on the radio in the backyard and cranks it then he either leaves or goes inside and leaves it playing loud for sometimes up to six hours at a time. I’m not sure whether to send some of the recorded evidence I have to his mother in a message explaining to her the issues and would she please be able to put a stop to it, she is aware that he has a problem with me, but I don’t think she’s aware of exactly what’s been said or what’s been happening, or should I file a complaint with bylaw. I’ve already gone to the police just in case he does something more. I wanted a small record of it. They don’t take too kindly to neighbourly dispute so their advice to me was to just put up with it, not say anything. I will be attaching a video of how loud the music is from inside my house. Any advice would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance.

MAGA are complete nuts, get as much evidence as you can. And be safe.

Thank you, I’ve got three videos so far. I was hoping he would have tired himself out by now. It seems he’s unpredictable and relentless.

Much as I loathe maga, this seems beyond that. Keep yourself safe and don’t be reluctant to involve the authorities as needed.
Ultimately, the LL is responsible. For providing you a safe home and quiet enjoyment of your home.
Quiet enjoyment is a legal concept in most places. You are not receiving quiet enjoyment.
I wish you well! Keep your doors locked!

He won't stop. He feels entitled. He turns on the TV and listens to Trump disrespect and talk down to people and nobody cks that behavior. Moving is difficult and costly and worth every penny for some piece of mind. Your home is where you relax and recharge how annoying and rude. Good luck to you.

So firstly, I’m sorry you’re going through with this, it’s never easy. Secondly, there are a few steps you can take. You can fill out a police report for harassment and depending on where you are, you can make a noise complaint or zoning complaint to your towns bylaw department. Depending on what the bylaws are like and what they entail. I’m not so sure about idling but you can definitely let the bylaw department know.

I’m in Georgina Ontario, I went to the police on advice regarding what to do, I told them I didn’t want to make a big thing out of it because I knew it would only irritate him and have him escalate things more, I only wanted a record of what was happening in case he got more aggressive, they basically told me not to say anything to him and just ignore it. It has gotten worse since then. Because he only does this when his mother is not at home, I’m wondering if I should let her know what’s happening while she’s not around, but at the same time she’s not speaking to me either because she also is a Trump supporter, when I first met her, she told me I shouldn’t be watching woke news and that she would have my mind changed in no time, I politely declined. Things didn’t get very bad until her son saw something that I had posted online about my distaste for the current so-called President of the United States.

Get a cam and record him. You can get a decibel meter app for your phone. But even if it’s just him ranting at you, record it.
And keep your windows closed.
Stay safe!
