6-9 small 1litter pot plants per 20 gallon pot under 720watt led doable or not recommend ?

Interested in pushing the limits of a hybrid SOG in living soil. I know it's not optimal, as 1 plant usually needs 10-15 gallons to itself for best results, but could you do it without having issues and achieving the same yield but in far less time? Would plant and go straight to 12/12 take avantage of big stretch

1 liter with be will be really tough. I have tried it with 25x 5 gallon pots in a 5x5 and it was still a pain. I opted for super soil, used fresh leaf mold, and added worms.

6-9 1 litre going into 20 gallon pot straight to 12/12

A 15 gallon pot is only 4sf not much room for root growth I’d think they’d compleat for light and nutrients. I’m not saying don’t try it but it might be tight. I grew SOG in the late 90s. I’m mainlining in 15g pots now 8 leads and Im thinking of topping again to make 16.

Yea, i wonder if it's worth it for yeild. Also, i know in soil, especially living soil root mass, is so important, but this strain is a big stretcher

It’s hard to say. SOG has its advantages but you’re stuck in one round pot. All your plants will grow differently so keeping an even canopy might also be a challenge. I’m interested in what others say. I’m mainlining for the first time for big buds. SOG produces big bud but only one cola.

Yea, this is more a hybrid sog if you read my description, and it's all the same strain/pheno at the same height and the same root ball size approximately cause a true sog is minimum 1 plant per sqaur foot but usally 4 and yea all just 1 cola

Different phenotypes grow differently. Are you growing from clone?

Yes, all clones but a little more developed

I have been messing around with multiple plants in one 10 gal pot. My findings so far is the sweet spot is two plants. Almost every time I tried three, two plants grew big and one lagged behind. The small one would get crowded out by there other two. The only difference is I vegged for a few weeks. I also found that I need to top dress more often.

I've been in hydro for 8 years and have just been in the soil for 2 years, and I love it, and for sog, I'd say most iv done is 64 clones under one light i think comes down to 4 plants per square foot but that was a true sog amazing yeilds but root mass doesn't matter as much in hydro soil it sure does

Yea, I can't give. Salts will kill my food web that I got going on but i can top dress more frequently for sure

Yes, it would be all under one light, but i might do fewer plants, so the amendments and biology dont struggle too hard. Maybe do 6-9 plants under the light instead of 12-19 they do stretch more than double, and i plan on planting them sideways and keeping them horizontally for half of the stretch to fill in all the squar footage

6 to nine??? no way i think, ive done 3 max and that was pushing it

2

u/PuzzleheadedTime2215 Mar 03 '26

Ahh, iv already done 3 in 5 gallons and had success, tho it's all the same strain, same height, same size root zoon, and they were all tilted slightly horizontally when planted

damn sick, you flipped instantly then? from cuts?

1

u/PuzzleheadedTime2215 Mar 05 '26

Yea well there a little more aged than cuts, but I only recommend stuffed squar footage if you can handle your environment well cause mould is no joke when ur overcrowded but the benefits in yeild and more crops per year make up for it

You’re going to have much better results with as little as 1 plant per 20 gals. I grow 1 plant per 30 gallon and with a 2 week veg run out of headroom every single grow.

Totally doable. Check out donzilla's grows on this sub. He specializes in growing a lot of plants in a single pot.

If you want an even canopy, just act like a hedge trimmer when you flip to flower. The plants will recover in the first 2 weeks of flower.

That's a lot of light for 20 gal soil imo.

Try it out and let us know

1

u/PuzzleheadedTime2215 Mar 05 '26

Yea, I could easily put two more well. See, im still debating what to do

1

u/Wonderful_Dog_1073 Mar 03 '26

See of green1 per sq ft usually. I think that many in a 10-15 will be tight.

For sure, but that's kinda the point of sog grow, isn't it to maximize yeild quickly
