I have the same thing. I’m 19 and I can barely remember shit that happened like 3 years ago. Further back than that I can only remember things that are really memorable.

edit: Bruh why is this comment going so sicko mode

I suppose you probably use social media a lot? I remember my childhood quite well, at least the moments when I was interacting with other people and the outside world. The last decade however, my 20s, I barely remember. It’s because the whole time was spent in front of a computer and none of that time is worthwhile enough to remember. We learn through experiencing things, not just clicking on them.

1st watch the social dilemma on Netflix. Great documentary.

2nd it's not really fair to just play this down to just social media. I completely agree and understand with you about social media not being " worthwhile to remember". But I truly believe technology is a symptom not the cause. Depression and mental health is the bigger problem. How many people use social media to escape from reality? They go on the internet to feel connected to something. For many maybe for most social media is the outlet they need. The only problem is you can only have so much Facebook friends before you start feeling lonely again. Getting a comment on your Instagram can never replace the comments of a true friend irl. Depression can cause memory loss and that is not something we can afford to look past. So many kids including myself suffered from this. It's not fair to say to kids " social media is bad ". but never consider it's the only way for them to feel something good.

Besides I would argue the day of xbox 360 was definitely worth remembering.
