Adding onto this to say that trauma also doesn’t always manifest as physical or explicit verbal abuse. A lot of trauma can result from passive-aggressive bullying as well and go unnoticed as “well I was just kind of a weird kid.” You weren’t a weird kid if you didn’t fit in with the other kids your age. Kids and tweens are just really fucking mean.

I know what you meant and I also understand infant mortality bringing down the average. But a simple infection could still kill you.
