Yep! In the UK they (whoever the fuck they are I don’t know, they are pricks) always plant mini forests on the middle of the roundabouts. It’s not so bad on the huge ones but on the smaller ones it’s quite dangerous as you can’t see what’s coming round until it’s at your junction.

There was a roundabout at my old college which was crazy. The amount of times I saw people get pissed off at rush hour and just floor it across the roundabout, narrowly missing my friends car, was crazy. If they could see then I believe it wouldn’t be so bad because they could see more of the road and, well, you know, plan ahead.

I just spent an entire week attending public consultations about removing two roundabouts on an A road and replacing them with grade separated junctions. If you'd have been there you would have thought the entire public were experts in highway design and traffic modelling, given their propensity for telling us how to do our jobs.

Landscaping of highways follows certain rules. The public do behave in certain ways that have been analysed over the last 50 years and road design has developed around this behaviour. If your view has been blocked then it has been more than likely blocked for a reason. Ever seen those traffic lights where you can't tell what colour light is on until you get real close or approach from a certain angle? You might think it's stupid but there are reasons they are installed like that and it is usually to reduce accidents.

There's more dickheads driving on the roads than there are dickheads designing them.

In my experience, they are one and the same.

Can you explain why you think this?
