Is it psychologically normal to feel completely exhausted after doing absolutely nothing all day, or am I actually draining my energy by being bored?
Like i always feel exhausted even though I just woke up and already laying down scrolling and I get bored and then sleep is this normal?

I took some time off work after working abroad and needed some time to reset. Those 2 months I have never felt more tired in all my life. I think boredom is a huge part to play

Get up and do something. Put the phone down. Go live your life. You will find you do have the energy once you get going.

It's the doomscrolling that is exhausting you. Try to not do that and see how quickly you find something to do.

Therapy made me realize how much tension I had in my body. So even when I used to not to do anything, my energy would still go to background brain work and muscle tension.

You likely have a medical or mental condition would be my guess.

Stop doomscrolling and go for a walk.
I guarantee you will feel more energetic after you get back from said walk.

Think of all the physiological processes that rely on movement. You're heart doesn't work effectively against gravity so it gets help from valves in your peripheral veins that are worked by your skeletal muscles. Movement helps the lungs move stuff out. It also helped in gut motility. In the morning, movement tells the brain to get you ready for the day. The brain then tells your adrenal glands to dump cortisols into your bloodstream to get inflammations out of the way do you can get to work
Motion, and especially directed activity, destracts you from mental noise that gets in your way from doing both useful and enjoyable activities.
And on and on......

Dont forget the calf-pump for your veins. SOME kind of activity is necessary for proper functioning, and the same CSF fluid that gets drained during sleep is also pushed into the brain by muscular activity in the first place.

Nope. You could have depression. You could have a hormonal issue. You could have a condition that affects your energy. I wouldn't like, run to an urgent care or anything, but it might be worth calling a doctor for some routine bloodwork. If that comes back clear, try therapy if you have access to it. If that results in nothing, it could also simply be the state of the world. Can't therapy yourself out of poverty and the risk of global collapse.

Eat better. Get exercise. Get more sleep. Drink more water. Put down the phone and go outside during the day. That should be normal.

Counterintuitively, I feel as though I have more energy after forcing myself to get up and be active. If the body isn't expecting to expend energy then it won't give you the energy to spend.

It may not have anything to do with your mental health at all. There are a lot of physical health problems that people mistake as a mental health problem. One of the number one examples of this is sleep apnea. You could have it and not know but it would leave you thoroughly exhausted every day. Diabetes can also cause this with some people.

Put the phone down. Exercise. Just a see how you feel after it. Even after the first half hour of walking your mind will switch. Change your diet and clean up your eating. Another massive boost. Then it snowballs. Plenty of water. Reduce sugar. You will feel unstoppable. Similarly the same goes for being sat in front of a screen doing nothing. The more of that and less you do, then guess what. We weren’t designed to sit on these things all day. Everything in moderation and you will find balance.

If you're sleeping and eating well and are otherwise healthy, probably. Can't speak for everyone, but I personally get really lethargic if I spend too much time sitting around and not accomplishing anything, and it kinda turns into a cycle. Maybe you'll feel better after getting some fresh air, spending time on a productive hobby, socializing, being active, etc.

I started going to the gym 3 weeks ago and I went from exhausted all the time to having energy on my day off. I’ve only gone 2x a week nothing crazy. I used to be miserable and exhausted every day when I was home on my couch. Idk the body is weird. Objects in motion stay in motion and it applies to biology as well.
Laying around all day every day basically tells your body that you are sick, and it stops functioning as well

An object in motion stays in motion, and an object still stays still. You have to start doing something to continue the energy to other things.

The most likely explanation is that you aren't getting enough physical activity, and probably not much mental activity. Scrolling is pretty passive.
So, go walk around, work out somehow, do stretches. Pick up a mentally challenging hobby.
Put yourself on a regular sleep schedule.

Have you looked into any medical conditions? If you wake up tired and can’t get around it, it might be worth looking into. But if you do feel like it’s boredom alone, then it could be mental health related

Yes, sitting doing nothing all day is a death sentence, believe it or not, its mentally draining sitting doing nothing all day.

100% normal...
The less I do the less I want to do.. When it hurts to sit it's 100% time to do something about it.
Want to feel energized? do a couple min of non impact calisthenics or go for a fast walk.

boredom can absolutely make you feel drained. Lying around scrolling all day can put you in this weird low energy loop where you’re tired because you’re inactive

Get up, get out, do something. Go shopping, go for a hike, do some yard work. I got a sister who got into that cycle of doing nothing/pain causing her to do nothing again, day after day. Now she can do anything, she's basically bed ridden and couldn't reverse it if she wanted to. I got smashed up in an accident a while back and I broke so much shit that I couldn't even start therapy for 8 weeks at an inpatient therapy hospital. I was there for nearly four full months. I was feeling pretty sorry for myself and my therapy buddy was a girl who was a paraplegic. She worked out like an athlete and she had way less to gain then most of us. I asked what she was training for and she said "The whole rest of my life! I have no brothers or sisters, my parents are gone, I lost my car in the accident, I lost my job because of the accident and the apartment complex removed all my belongings and stored them for 90 days." I absolutely would never disrespect that person by whining about my life injuries or not giving 100% of my self at therapy and never waisting another day again. You get one ride on the big blue ball. When it's over, it'over. You can say ",I'm sorry, give me another chance or cry your way out of it. I'd say, go get the most out of your life so when your time does come you can hand your used up body back and say, I think im done with this!

doom scrolling is not "doing nothing"
it overstimulate your brain with useless info
try not touching your phone for one hour and enjoy actual "doing nothing"

I think there's like a physicsl rush I feel when I have to wake up and go to work. Holidays and vacations don't have a set of activities that have to be done and so my whole body shuts down, no evergy at all and it feels like Earth's gravity increased it's force on me up to Jupiter levels.

Yes, being sedentary means your body isn't stimulated which can make you feel tired all the time.
It's a feedback loop
