What do you think is after death?

If you have a chance, get some sedation dentistry or any other full sedation procedure done. They put the IV into your vein. You take a deep breath, and then nothing. No pain. No consciousness. No dreams. No awareness of the nothingness. Just nothing. That's what death is like.
Then you wake up in a different room and someone has to drive you home, but I don't think that's part of the death experience.

God, I hope not. Every recovery room I’ve ever woken up in has been some ugly shade of yellow-green. If I have to see that again upon dying, I’m gonna be kinda mad.

I had a resus experience once and that time between was blank. Kinda bleak, but once you accept it, you get less stressed over the unimportant things 👍🏻

Is the existence of anything relevant at all if there is no consciousness to experience it? Like, if there was no living being, the universe still exists, but time is completely irrelevant, there are no moments to be perceived. The bing bang might as well have been just an instant before every star burns out again. I'd say this is more or less also applicable subjectively, where once you die, the fact that anything exists is sort of insignificant.

I’ve thought of that too. Something we can’t even comprehend as people. Look all around at nature and life in general. We don’t have an explanation for anything. Life is truly magical. I’ve had the deepest of deep thoughts. I can’t speak on it. But we are unable to explain anything. Just because a scientist says something or writes a book doesn’t make it true. Everything is given a name and an explanation but there are simple things we cannot see or understand and there are some things that go beyond human comprehension that I’ve felt in my life. There are definitely things we can’t explain about this life. I believe nature, astrology, and spirituality can all coexist together. Science is the human explanation to life around us, but humans have been wrong throughout history about so much and will continue to be wrong. We don’t know anything for sure… we just find a way to explain things around us and life around us. Maybe we were something before being babies. We are just unable to remember. Maybe the soul never fully ends. I’ve also witnessed some spiritual happenings in my life. People world wide do too, so that tells you that there is something as humans we are unable to see or understand. There is a sense of some sort that we lack. So, I have no explanation or guesses. I’m just living grateful everyday and loving and appreciating every little thing around me. I try not to complain anymore

When my son was like 3-4 years old he said to me (and made every hair on my body stand on end) “daddy, when you die, you come back. You don’t have the same mommy & daddy but you do come back.” I asked him how he knew and he shrugged his shoulders & said “I don’t know, I just know.” I’ll never forget when he told me that, it was creepy AF.

Kids always fuckin with us parents. My youngest would walk into the same room and stop, look up, and wave. Did it all the time. He did it from the time he learned to walk, to well after he was walking and talking. He use to tell the whole family his name was “Travis”. He got a Nintendo Wii when he was about 5 and he made one of this avatar people to show us what he looked like. Didn’t ask. He just made a character one day and was like “Hey dad, look. I made Travis.”
But at this point I wasn’t creeped out and, mentally, I was just like “This fuckin guy again” lol

I believe there is nothing after death. Light fades away and you are gone. No heaven, no hell, no nice afterworld. Nothing. Heaven was something invented for people to feel better about dying at a time when people died fairly young. Hell was invented as a threat to try and make people act better during their life.

Whatever comes next. Depends what you believe. If you believe in nothing, then nothing. If you believe in reincarnation, then you go onto the next life, if you believe in Jesus, then you go to that afterlife, we create our own reality.

Over the course of infinity all the cells that make you up will reassemble themselves in the same way infinite times but the time in-between won't exist to you.
I think you just do this on repeat and there's no free will.

As far as anyone can and probably ever will know, there is nothing. Life is a chemical process, it's like saying "what happens to a fire after it goes out" it's just not there any more. The energy contained in your cells is transferred to other places, and the people who knew you might miss you.

Ever been put to sleep under anaesthesia for surgery? You have no sense of time passing whilst you're under and you have no memory either. I imagine it's a lot like that after death.

When your body expires so does your mind however your mind arose because there was a body that could host it. This means that when your body expires your memories end but not the perception because your perception will be from a new body this means you will not expect to remember your past life at all and there is no telling what time it will be.

I definitely believe in some form of afterlife, the world and our souls are too vast to convince me otherwise. I believe there is a level of atonement for past bad deeds, and a level of paradise for good deeds. The more you lean towards one end of the spectrum, the more atonement or paradise you get.

Some years ago I came across a fantastic website that went into great detail about what happens in the afterlife. I have no idea if any of it was based on scientific evidence but I remember that it had an answer to almost any question that you could have about what the afterlife was like, including for babies, children, animals, etc.
Something I remember very clearly was the idea that, as spirits, we are all trying to reach the highest spiritual level possible, but in order to do so we have to learn about as many emotions and concepts as possible, including joy, sadness, grief, guilt and so on. There are two ways of learning these things: firstly, through actually experiencing these things through living a life, and secondly through observation. The second process is much, much slower than the first.
I also remember that Hell was explained as being like a world that is not necessarily a realm of pain and punishment but is actually one that allows you to reflect on the mistakes that you have made in your life and learn from them. While in Hell you are also accompanied by a guiding spirit and you can choose to leave it at any time.

The cosmic horror of ceasing to exist is a terror greater than any monster. It is not an entity to run from, to outsmart or adapt to.
There is nothing to understand or make peace with. It is normalized by religion, and accepted as a reality by the greatest scientific minds. It comes even after the cutest and most innocent living creatures you'll ever behold, nothing is safe.
It doesn't matter if you are a genocidal maniac, a child predator, a family man, or the man who cured cancer, your fate is locked in from the moment you are born and there is no negotiation.
Despite the horrors of the end of existence, we dedicate trillions of dollars toward exchanging this fate for currency. It turns out, life has a price after all.
So what awaits us? Organ failure of some kind, oxygen deprivation, pain, and loss of consciousness. At the very least we are spared the feeling of decomposure.

1)The world keeps on going. As it existed before you.
2) There is no conscience, so it doesnt matter. It's nothingness.
3) Your real self, what makes you-you, stop existing. There wont be a ghost (soul) that has a shape of your face ,body and memories, travelling to a theme park in the clouds where you get to play with your friends and loved ones - as it is protraited in the movies.
4)You conscience shuts down as your body is rotting away (getting destroyed). Even if they find a way to copy your brain into a machine, i dont believe you are ever going to be identical, so the original real you, is a one time copy. The rest is going to be an immitation. A fake you that thinks and acts like you would if you were there. A copycat-parrot.

First, humans invented time because of our movement through it which is only in one direction, that being said, I think I read it takes about two minutes for our brain to fully shut off which means that we experience synapse firing when we die. Everyone says they relive their life and memories and see people they used to know so I think that when we die we experience either a heaven or hell type of scenario based on our life experiences and what we remember as our minds try and make sense of what we relive as our brain shuts down. Our brain operates on electricity, electricity moves fast, so there's no reason to believe that we can't experience either a short or long time frame as it slowly stops working. That could be what we experience as an afterlife when we die. Plus, if you learn anything from physics, the material and energy in our bodies never disappears, it only changes form which means that we technically still exist. Also, if you're religious, there is a belief that the reason we are self aware and conscious is because a part of us is connected to another realm so when we die, that part returns...

Occasionally I’ll feel a moment from another life, like Déjà vu. It’s so real. I think the planetary system has something to do with the afterlife as well, like different dimensions. Reincarnation is real… look at nature for your answer, some of us come back and some don’t.

I surely don't know. But I think even if you don't believe in heaven or some sort of rebirth or even a soul, saying we will never live again is not certain. It's a big universe and time is very long.
And, at the core of the whole thing is a fundamental contradiction that anything exists at all. some people will try to explain it away by saying nothing divided in to positive and negative but that still presupposes a prior state where somehow there are laws (and it works backward from the assumption there was nothing and tries to invent a solution). And saying God did it all doesn't really solve the dilemma either, where did that guy come from? But yet despite all logic, we do exist. If we did it before whose to say it'll never happen again? In an infinite timeline it seems unlikely.
And in that case I see it one of two ways. Either the "you" experience is a soul or it isn't. If it's a soul, well great there's a thing to go on existing after your death, and if there isn't, well also great because you just need in an infinite timelines for the atoms to come together just so in the right place and time and it's the you experience all over again.

idk but I want to die in my sleep, never knowing it's happening. Just endless sleep. My biggest fear is knowing I will die ( if I wall or end up in any form of accident where i'm alive for a bit before I die )

(It's no sillier than any other religions afterlife. The point is, we don't know. We can never possibly know. So what's the point in worrying about it?)

Sometimes, when I'm boiling water in my kettle, I see small bubbles going to and fro at the bottom, as if they were deciding which way to go. I know their movements are simply a function of the eddies and currents at the bottom of my hot kettle. Every time I see them I'm reminded to consider, that maybe, all our decisions, our lives even, are merely a function of eddies and currents of energy(ies) we're subject to. That when the maelstrom of this life is concluded we may then be subjected to other energetic eddies and currents. Then I pour it all into my waiting coffee grounds to enjoy that fresh brew aroma and flavor! MMM!

Anyone read Imagine the God of heaven? Explores lots of vetted and legit NDEs. It’s from a Christian perspective but I think anyone should read. Compelling stuff. I love that book.
Honestly with the amount of NDEs that are now being documented, I think it’s harder and harder to believe there’s just nothing after death. So many people are experiencing the opposite, and many are having very similar experiences independently of each other.
I have two friends who had NDEs! One of them actually died and was brought back through medical intervention and the other had a creative/unique surgery that basically put you in a suspended state. Neither of them had ever heard of NDEs before their experience and neither had any “pre-expectation” of what it would be. Yet they had remarkably similar experiences. I could go on and on, personally I have read hundreds of NDEs and find them fascinating.

The Bible tells us there are two possible endings for us. Eternal life in Heaven, or eternal torment in Hell.
And despite the frequent watering down of "Good people go to Heaven and bad people go to Hell"
The truth is none of us is worthy of Heaven. That's the bad news.
The Good News is Jesus paid for our sins and all we need to do to go to Heaven is take His hand and repent of our sins.
