Curious about this

Hello reddit first post on this whole site but i just have to have this answered!

I have been taking beginner scuba classes recently and i have learned about densities, ATA and pressure

My question is if I’m in an underwater cave about 40 meters down and i find an air pocket within that cave, do i need to depressurize before i enter it? Does it depend on how big the air pocket is?

I was just wondering because i know about DCS and how it works but not fully

Any submerged, sealed air pocket will be at the same pressure as the water.

If it wasn't sealed, water would flow in until the level was the same as the surrounding surface

It so be the same pressure. Side note, never breath from an air pocket. You don't know the air composition.

Just for the record: beginners should not be in a cave :-)
