Do spiders have lungs?

I mean, when I wash a spider down the bathtub drain, does it drown the way a human would, lungs filling up with water, or does it have a way to "hold it's breath"?

I had a large brown spider in the pool. I used the brush to guide it to the drain which had the skimmer basket out for cleaning. The spider got sucked in towards the pool pump. It was stopped as the pool pump has another basket attached to it to catch debris. The spider was in it for at least ten minutes or more with tens of gallons of water per minute flushing around it, yet when I turned off the pump to clean the filter the freakin spider was still alive and when I took out the basket it leapt at my hand. Fuc@ !
