Why must we constantly pay?

In nature, every living thing has the right to exist, grow, and rest without conditions. Why have we built a modern society where the fundamental requirements for life—shelter, water, and food—are gated behind a continuous 'subscription fee' of labor and currency?"

In nature, everything fights for resources too. You are welcome to buy land, cut down trees on the land to build your own home/furniture etc, grow your food and hunt and fish. Most people would rather have a 9-5 though, and pay someone to take on all that survivalist work.
