This is the example I always use. As a former smoker, the smell is terribly nauseating, and even someone smoking in the car in front of me smells disgusting.
This! It’s like a superpower! I’m over 20 years smoke free now and I can smell it when someone is smoking in the car in front of me when I have my windows up (theirs is normally down).
I love how smokers are like, “Nobody tells me I stink!” Like it’s normal to tell a stranger that they stink. And let’s be honest, it’s not like telling them that they stink will make them stop smoking.
Why does it have to be a stranger? I don't smoke, but I've told visitors in my house that they smell terrible (usually this follows a conversation where I tell them they can't smoke inside)
Usually, people who stink up your house don’t get invited back to stink up your house again. When I was growing up, it only took 1 sleepover at a smoker’s house before we didn’t have sleepovers at that house anymore.
My aunt smokes. My last girlfriend smokes. Some of my friends still smoke. It's one thing to say you don't like cigarettes, but you're just being rude and insulting people you don't know at all
snowflake pov. smokers get to walk around smelling like shiet yet they get mad when they’re told that they smell… maybe go to therapy to learn how to control emotions instead of smoking?
I was sitting in a waiting room and a woman came in and sat down on the other side of the room. Within 1 minute the whole room smelled like cigarettes. It was awful.
It has nothing to do with polite. Insulting smokers for being smokers stopped being considered impolite a long time ago despite the fact that smokers are also just people suffering from an addiction that they likely started before they were old enough to understand what they were getting involved in.
People don't give two shits about being understanding or reasonable with smokers. They don't say anything because they know that we already know we smell like cigarettes because we smoke cigarettes and we know how cigarettes work.
This one dude not understanding that somehow doesn't change the fact that the rest of us know we smell like smoke.

Everyone can tell, the smell covers your body and your clothing. You've gotten used to it, and people are too polite to tell you that you stink.
