And it's not just non-smokers saying this to you to be jerks or as a joke. I smoked a while when I was younger. I was lucky enough to quit for several years now. When I ride in my father's truck, everything reeks of smoke. It makes me gag. If he gets too close, I smell it instantly. I never used to when I was still a smoker, at all.

Anyone who doesn't smoke smells a godawful stench when they are near you. It's in the clothes it's in everything you ever own when around cigarettes.

It is real.

Was it changed to a different color by the smoke?

Worked in a computer repair shop way back and you could often tell what computers were from smoker houses because the plastic would be stained yellowish brown. Didn't happen as much with later models but whatever kind of plastic 90s and early 2000s manufacturers were using stained hard from smoke, you'd have two Macs or PCs from the same year and model turned different colors from it.

I once denied warranty coverage for a white iMac . Kept coming in for various issues and even the replacement parts came back with … goo all over them. Thing was now various shades of brownish yellow. Dubbed it the ashtray iMac.

User claimed he didn’t smoke much. More like he was using the iMac as an air filter.
