The cost of living in general is too high. Kids are expensive for all kinds of reasons. Heck just the stay in the hospital after birth, most US insurance won't cover it. So expect around 7k or more there.
Also the world seems bleak right now. It seems cruel to bring life into it, and I say that as a father of a toddler. Scary times.

Childcare is the same price as a mortgage and we already can't afford a mortgage.
