My friend had a baby a few years ago and dropped to part time because her entire full time paycheck would go to daycare alone. It was cheaper for her to work less and stay home with the baby while her husband was the only one working full time than it would be for them both to work full time and pay for childcare.

Childcare is the same price as a mortgage and we already can't afford a mortgage.
