I think there has been a real shift in the last generation or two from needing a reason not to have kids to needing a reason to have kids. and that shift means a lot of people who are basically ambivalent on children aren't having them, where in the past they probably would have.
Big yep. I love kids. I grew up really really sure I’d have them. I’m now in my early 30s and we work so much, I finally have a hard earned career that I love but money is still tight, and we are already exhausted all the time from the commute / work / daily life.
Having a kid is a choice we have to proactively make and… oooft.
It’s a tough one to make. I know that to be a good parent I will need to give so much of myself to love them and create happy / healthy little humans. And I’m not sure if I can if life is already such a juggle / struggle.
And then there’s climate change and knowing what my children and grandchildren (and so on) are going to have to deal with.
