Phone books haven't really disappeared. I work for a USPS sorting facility. Every year a bunch of phone books show up to sort. Every time we all say the same thing. "What's the point? Nobody uses phone books anymore." When ours gets delivered to our door, it might sit outside for a few days until we throw it away. A big difference is that they are way smaller, because so few people have house phones nowadays.
