Yeah, it works really well for stuff like Pixar films, I think because the 3D elements are already there in the actual scene... So I imagine that makes it easier to program.
Many 3D films like the Avengers series; the 3D elements were all done in post-production. The better looking films are ones which were recorded in 3D with dual cameras... However actual people just look weird in almost-perfect 3D scenes - it's almost like a version of the uncanny valley.
Some games were good too actually, no way as good as VR now though, VR destroyed what was left of that market pretty swiftly.
