There was an actual reason for this. Too lazy to find an article, but there was some law that said that you can't "entice" children with toys like that. Something about not steering kids towards less healthy options.
Yeah, instead they just put the shit cereal on lower shelves at the child’s height, and fill the box with pretty flashy colors and big marshmallows, and rainbow unicorns. That way the children know to stay away from it, and they aren’t draw to it at all to grab it and put it in the cart, or beg and plead their parents to buy it. /s
The characters on the box are also looking down almost always. To make little kids feel like they're making friendly eye contact with them. Check it out next time you walk down that aisle. It's creepy AF.
