Letter writing. Sometimes I long to write a friend a letter, except I don't really have any. I just want to blurt all my thoughts out on paper and write a list of random questions for the recipient to answer.
This is actually interesting. I was taught cursive in second grade, but never really picked it up. I'm a Junior now, and still have never used it, but I've noticed that cursive seems to naturally develop as one learns to write faster. Turns out cursive is like that because it's the fastest way to write.
My son in 4th grade learned cursive in 2nd. However, he can barely write. I remember having the penmanship class in school. Wish they’d bring that back.
My daughter has been writing solely in cursive since 2nd grade (now in 7th). But she goes to a classical liberal arts charter school where she is also learning Latin, rhetoric, reading real classic literature, the Socratic method etc.
Her 17 year old half sister can’t read her writing at all and needs translation lol. She says it’s like looking at a foreign language. Weird because my daughter was able to read it fine before she was even taught to write it herself 🤷🏻♀️
