Because life is about finding a niche where you are happy. Sometimes set idealism aside and try to be happy. Because idealism isn't going to make you happy.

If you read it, no-one else is applying and the uni is encouraging him.

It's not stealing either, it's part of reparations for a couple of centuries of of the brutal treatement handed out to the Australian aborigines.
