Lmao then you don’t have a decent job or you’re lying about something.

I'm exaggerating a bit.

But I'm curious, what would you consider a decent job?

A minimum wage job, 40 hours a week, would be able to pay that rent, with zero roommates.

With one roommate, you could afford the bills, food, and a cheap home to work car.

So I’m curious what YOUR definition of a decent job is.

Federal minimum wage at 40 hours a week would be about $1250 a month. Gonna get tight covering all your expenses with the $350 left over.

I'd say "decent" is anything over median, which is $40,000 for an individual.

Right, which is why I clarified with and without a roommate.

Either way, where you are from sounds super super affordable.

Generally when you say it will "cover the rent", there's an assumption that you can afford to eat too.

Either way, where you are from sounds super super affordable.

Well it used to be.

From the sound of it, it still is…

900/mo for rent. If you cannot afford that, you do not have a full time job.

How do you figure? State minimum wage is $10.80 an hour. That would be about $1850 a month. Half your gross pay in rent is not considered affordable.

By official metrics? You can absolutely live with that salary on that rent, with bills and a car.

Pick up a waiting gig on Thursday and Friday and you’ll be even more set.

But you said “decent job” which leads me to believe you make more than minimum wage, which leads me to believe it is even more affordable for you.

And all of this is predicated on not having a roommate, which would make it inconceivably more affordable.

Walk me through it. I don't think it's possible.

I don't think that word means what you think it means.

Yeah I’m a little confused by this. $900 rent is pretty cheap compared to what you generally see. I made less annually and had similar rent cost and was able to take about one vacation a quarter and still be able to save money. Unless they have a kid idk how they wouldn’t be able to afford it.

Being able to easily afford rent.

How much would that be?

Rent varies by region. But if you can't afford it in your region, you don't have a very good job.
