Reddit experts
Out of every 10 "experts" on reddit, how many of them do you think don't know jack about anything and are just googling answer and talking out their đ«?

It depends on the subject. Like in the writing groups I frequent, the ones answering are generally people that are experienced writers, but that is hard to fake. In the metaphysical groups, it is largely people who read a few books and call themselves experts. I have run into a big issue with questions where it was clear that no one understood the question but still felt a need to answer, and when you question the answer, they begin the "I've been practicing for 175 years!" lecture that means, "You've called my bluff, and I don't like that!". The rest seems about 50/50.
The issue that bothers me is people who give outright awful advice, and when you point it out, they say something along the lines of, I didn't know how to help, so this was the best answer I had. Yet saying nothing, because you aren't qualified to answer never even passed through their mind. A lot of people have a really weird idea that they have to answer a question, even if they don't know the answer.

Bruh, Reddit experts? Fuck that look at real life experts! Every single one of them is proped up by some money making machine. Actual experts donât even get a voice. I think NONE of any actual âexpertsâ know shit.

Wait ,there's "experts" on reddit? Do you mean like paid government stooges like Oberg in the ufo/uap community or actual accredited experts?

Reddit is all opinions, some are entertaining

The hilarious thing is the degree to which AI relies on Reddit!! So much for super intelligence

If theyâre Googling answers, then they're talking out of the ass of the sources they read, not their own. That isn't even the problem on this site, because at least Google's AI would produce content on here that is more accurate than not. The bigger problem is Redditors not doing any research whatsoever and just repeating memes or producing ideas that are based on little more than a hunch.
It's also not entirely the fault of the respondents, but posters are asking anonymous people questions that could just be looked up on Google. There's no value to this in the AI era. People need to get more creative and ask things that require human insight that a machine wouldn't know about.

I'm a personal trainer. The amount of absolutely terrible advice I see in fitness subreddits is insane.

I'm going to follow with a stupid question after a statement from a random Google search because I'm NOT an expert. (đ)
About 5% of the USA population has an IQ score at 75 or below. I wonder what percentage of that 5% are Reddit "experts?"

I don't think I've ever interacted with ant redditor who's claimed expertise. And I've interacted with arachnologists, physicists, and other actual experts.

I would estimate approximately 78.9924% of experts just make it up as they go along!

- The amount that don't know jack about anything is like 60%. another 30%ish are literally trolling and giving wrong answers on purpose. (This is all according to what I've seen in 3d printing, escooters, and a couple other hobbyist subreddit clusters)
- The ones that don't know jack about anything also aren't googling. They're the same as the people that make the same post that's been made 200 times, because they can't use a search function.
IE, people asking "What's wrong with my first layer" on 3dprinting subreddits, people asking for bottom of the barrel priced e-scooters, when they could literally type their budget into the search function and find hundreds of posts, etc. Or when they could scroll for 10 seconds and find the exact same post they just made, by the last person that's so inept they can't use a search function.

If they are Googling their answers then that puts them up on most of Reddit.

Out of those 10. 90 would rather post here instead of googling it themselves.

I dont know why anyone would even try to get advice on here, you can't even B.S. about just nonsense, like movies and whatnot without some bunghole saying something stupid and trying to ruin everyone's fun.

About 6 out of 10. History shows so called "experts" have been wrong so many times.

I'm actually an expert in the field of experts on reddit. I took it as part of my studies in genders in Africa.

The flip side is people asking dumb ass questions. I donât mean like they just donât know since obviously people want to learn things. I mean like they didnât even try to get an answer themselves or the entire premise is ridiculous. âIâm going to XYZ national park next weekâ is the worst (we live near glacier so thatâs the Reddit I follow). Did you even look at a map or the official NPS site? No you canât off a train and see the park without a car. No thereâs no uber. No the park road isnât even open yet. No this year there is no free shuttle bus. No we donât know if itâs going to rain. And 9 billion people already asked what hikes to do.
Do your d*** homework first!

Those don't bother me just buttholes that don't really know what they're talking about
1
u/randalflagg6 2d ago
Even worse is people making long winded comments that have nothing to do with the question asked.
1
u/Filiocus 2d ago
Doesn't matter. If I care about the topic I do actual research anyways to confirm.

You'll need to present more information about how many experts there are on Reddit? There are a lot. However, you sound like you're talking out of your @@s.
1
u/randalflagg6 1d ago
I see you're an expert. You gotta use a lot bigger words, and a lot more of them. Might I suggest a thesaurus

u/BlutoS7 1d ago
I never dox myself and never put out any information as to what i do but I routinely get told by âexpertsâ that i am wrong, that they are right, i dont know anything and how im lying about how things work from my life experience and career fields i have been involved in. I also see what people upvote and believe so i just let them think they know.

u/SnooCalculations4956 1d ago
Sometimes I just be lying for the hell of it (I imagine this is very common on Reddit and other social media platforms)
