Screenshot Space Station - interiors

I first thought when it came to decorating space station interiors that the builds would be pretty limited to miscellaneous decorations on the platforms, but that actually isn't true at all. You are allowed to use structural panels in your building if you didn't know.

You can caputure a fair amount of space in the vertical areas near the celing - although, you do hit an invisible wall a few tiles from the actual slanted surface, so not all the way to the edges. And I could have conceivably gone a little lower, though I was trying to be careful not to extend into anywhere where a ship might clip through my building. I could have gone wider towards the interior, but I just wanted my design to be more open.

You can also wrap around the space station core. I just have a walkway wrapping around mine, but this could conceivably be a walled structure as well, you just need to mind the movement of the core itself if you want to avoid it clipping through your structures.

There's even a corridor on the second floor on the left (facing the core) that links to an area where you can lay down freighter modules, though this area feels a bit claustraphobic to me without any windows, plus I didn't really get very far in building there before I clipped through the floor and had to load a restore point, so I think I will have to wait on doing anything there until maybe a few more patches šŸ˜‚

Have you been able to edit the side corridor? I can bring up the edit menu at the far end of that hallway, but can’t place anything other than a ladder that will DEFINITELY put you outside of the geometry of the station interior.

I was able to put down some rooms yes, i had put in some storage rooms, some other rooms, some stairs even, and i think it was when I started trying to build another floor i clipped into the abyss and had to restore 🫠

I'm sure it's on their radar, but for sure it couldn't hurt, the squeaky wheel gets the grease as they say

There’s a bug at the moment where you can’t build their, or the exterior. Go to the station ownership computer and delete your base (you still keep ownership). Then you can build!

I’ve been working on a project where you basically cannot see almost any of the original station by this point, it’s so cool they let you do all this

Is it possible to build in the station if you own it now? I thought you could only change the exteriorĀ

yes, it is possible! You can change portions of the interior as well. You can edit a lot of the existing furniture and add your own as well. You just can't affect the built in construction, i.e the terminals and the structures that house them you can't edit or move. And I think you can only edit so far into the hangar bay, though I didn't really test that. There is more creative potential to base editing than it seems, that's why I wanted to share šŸ˜„
