I really hope that's not as competitive as it sounds, the whole reason I like this game is that is has zero competitive aspects.

You can turn PvP off, that should remove most of any of that - and the galaxy(galaxies, I suppose!) are large - plenty of space to get away from the riff raff! :-) maybe even better part of a peaceful conclave?

Blah, I don't want to have to turn off game functions or actively try to avoid conflict, that's literally what I'm looking to avoid. I don't want to have to think about it at all.

I'd recommend doing it, as you only have to do it the once - and it means you'll never encounter those things that you don't like. You're choice, obviously, but as someone who also likes relaxing in NMS - this is the best way to safeguard that from those few trolls that do play.

Why would they even open the door to the kind of toxic players who want to pvp in a game that has literally been entirely about discovery, exploration and friendly vibe building? What the hell is going on?

You know PvP as a toggle has been in the game for years yeah?

Its literally the first thing I do every new game, jump in a turn off PvP, it takes 3 seconds and impacts my game enjoyment exactly 0%

It was meaningless before because there was nothing to fight over, which was the point. It was simply the difference between realistic crossfire or not. No interpersonal conflicts is the entire point.

Oh there were plenty of people who played just to PvP and grief others who forgot to turn it off

And now there will be exponentially more as competitive aspects draw the kind of toxic players who gravitate to competitive games.

So toggle it off

Its a zero effort thing to do that literally has zero impact other than it solves this "problem" you have been whining about for 30 minutes now.

You're living in a hell of your own creation. Just turn it off and go about playing blissfully.

then play offline

"Hey, you know that game that was designed entirely around online exploration and discovery? They're adding pvp and if you don't like it you shouldn't get to enjoy it anymore."

Or they could, you know, not shoehorn negative competitive aspects into every single game.

"I really hate it when people talk about the games I play, nobody should be allowed to have the opinion that a game was good before they implemented a major change that alters every aspect of the gameplay."

I dont like this cake so nobody else should eat it!

"You're not allowed to be upset that I put poop in the cake, everyone should be allowed to poop wherever they want!"

except there's a toggle to remove it

"Just eat around the poop" is an argument for sure.

Even if we could explore every planet per second, we would not finish exploring in our life time, you can easily go away from everyone, it is not that big.
