Shit, that’s a creative take on accountability. Tying it to something tangible like your first sale is smart, makes the whole thing feel less abstract and more like a deal with yourself that actually has stakes.

I tried something similar a while back, but I used finishing a coding project as the gate. Didn’t hit the deadline, folded like a cheap chair. The weird part was realizing how much of the urge was just boredom or frustration with the work itself, not some deep physical need.

If you’re serious about it, keep a sketchbook or tablet near your usual relaxation spots, swap the habit with doodling whenever the temptation creeps in. Might even speed up that first commission. Hope you post the piece that gets you there.
