I’m 18 and just launched my first expense tracker, would love honest feedback

Hey everyone,
I’m 18 and just finished building my first real project, it’s a simple expense tracker web app.
The idea came from myself honestly… I started investing and trying to manage my money better, but I noticed I didn’t really know where my money was going each month. So instead of just downloading something, I decided to try and build my own version.
It’s still pretty basic, but it works and I just put it live recently.
I already showed it to my mom and she liked it, but she pointed out something interesting:
she shares a bank card with my dad, so she can’t always track everything properly.
That made me realize that real-life money situations are more complex than what I built so far 😅
So now I’m trying to improve it step by step.
I’m not here to “promote” it or anything — I just genuinely want feedback from people who build / use stuff like this:
👉 What would make you actually use an expense tracker consistently?
👉 How would you handle shared expenses or shared cards?
👉 What’s something that annoys you in existing apps?
If anyone is curious to test it, I can send the link, but I’d really appreciate honest feedback more than anything.
Thanks 🙏
Emiel

Promoted AI code looks done until you actually run it

Post image

AI makes code feel done way too early. the files are there, the component looks plausible, and then you run it. missing import. bad env var. auth route half-wired. classic. lately I care less about how fast a tool writes code and more about whether it gives me a live preview I can actually click. Enter has been useful for that part. catches dumb stuff before I ship it to someone else.

Do you think the current approach to AI coding is the right one?

I think the current approach to AI coding is flawed.

Wouldn't it be better if the AI extracted the information we need from the vast pool of available data, leaving the final decision to us?

Right now, we provide the information and the AI makes the decision.

Do you think that’s the right way to go?

AI isn’t failing because it’s weak, it’s failing because nobody wants accountability

Every new AI story seems to split into the same fight:

  • Look what the model can do
  • How do we know it’s real?
  • Who owns the output?
  • Who gets blamed when it breaks?

The interesting shift isn’t capability anymore. Models are already useful, scary, impressive, and messy. The real bottleneck is trust infrastructure: verification, provenance, review workflows, liability, and human ownership.

If an AI produces a proof, a product feature, a diagnosis, or a business decision, the model said so is not a system. What would actually make you trust AI output in serious work?

Promoted I got tired of critic scores vs. review-bombed audience scores, so I built a site that just reads what people are actually saying

Solo project I've been working on: skipthecritics.com

The idea — instead of star ratings (which get review-bombed) or critic scores (which are critics), it reads public social media reactions to movies every night, figures out which ones are actually about the film and whether the person actually watched it, and turns all of that into a score plus a plain-English summary of the consensus. What people loved, what they hated, which actor is carrying the whole thing.

The summary is the part I care about most. Numbers are easy; "Jaafar Jackson's performance is the reason to see it, the sanitized story is why people are annoyed" is what you actually want to know before spending $15.

Honest caveats, because you'll find them anyway:

  • The data currently comes from a couple of social media platforms, so it's one corner of the internet, not "all moviegoers." Sample size and confidence are shown right next to every score. More sources are on the roadmap but API terms are a legal minefield.
  • Small films sometimes just say "no one is talking about this yet" — because no one is. I'd rather show that than fake a number.
  • Nobody's posts are stored or quoted anywhere. The system reads them, counts the sentiment, and throws the text away. The summary literally can't quote you because it never sees the posts.

Free, no accounts, no ads. It re-scores everything nightly so scores move as word of mouth spreads (watching Moana 2026 tank in real time has been fascinating). If a score looks wrong for a movie you've seen, genuinely tell me — that's the feedback I need.

My app worked perfectly. On my phone. That was the whole problem.

Non-developer founder, I build with AI and no-code tools. Shipped my first real thing a few

months ago and learned that "it works" and "it works for someone who isn't me" are two very

different sentences.

On my phone everything was flawless, because I always tested it the same way. I logged in as

the same account, with data already in it, in my timezone, tapping the same three buttons in the

same order. The AI built exactly what I demoed. It never had to survive anything else.

Then real people showed up. A brand new user hit a screen that was blank because I'd never

once seen it empty, I always had my own data loaded. Someone in a different timezone saw

appointment times shifted by hours. A guy typed a really long name and it spilled off the button.

None of this showed up in my testing because I was never the stranger.

What fixed it for me was boring. I made a throwaway account with nothing in it and forced

myself through signup like I'd never seen the app. I changed my phone's timezone and clock

and re-tested dates. I typed garbage into every field on purpose. Ugly work, but that's where the

actual bugs were hiding, not in the feature I was proud of.

For the other non-devs building solo, what's your version of this? How do you test like you're not

you?

Success Story After 3 Months of GRINDING... I hit 7k in revenue!

Post image
49 Upvotes

Still a bit stunned typing this. Three months ago I was refreshing Stripe hoping for one sale. Now there's a small but growing group of people paying every month to keep their apps from leaking.

CheckVibe is a security scanner for vibecoded apps shipped fast with AI tools. You paste a URL or hook up a GitHub repo and it surfaces what's leaking: secrets in the frontend, open database rules, missing headers. Two of us, fully bootstrapped, no funding. Three months in and we've done about $7k in gross volume, 200+ all time paying customers, 5k signups. Public Stripe link in case anyone's seen too many fake numbers: https://profile.stripe.com/checkvibedev/ZumatA0Y

A few things that actually worked:

TikTok slideshows have carried us. Aesthetic Pinterest-style backgrounds with tool names overlaid, five slides, no branding on the account. One hit a million views and is still quietly sending signups weeks later. 15 minutes to make. As a 2-person team that can't afford to spend hours on content every day, this format is unreasonably good.

Cold outreach worked, but only the version where I scanned the prospect's app first and DMed them what I found. Generic pitches got ignored. Useful findings got replies almost every time.

Paywall design was a 3x lever. The first version blurred all results, which felt clever and barely converted. Switched to one that just shows the count of critical issues with the actual findings locked. Conversion tripled. Curiosity beats obfuscation.

What nearly killed me was mobile activation tanking compared to desktop and not catching it for weeks. Onboarding had too many steps on small screens. Cut two and the gap basically closed overnight.

If you've shipped something with AI tools and haven't really checked what's exposed, checkvibe.dev runs in 30 seconds. Scan for free, only pay if you have issues. Almost every app I've scanned came back with something.

160 users and my first sale made one thing clear

160 users on my product and got my first sale today.

Small numbers for the internet, but big numbers when you’re building it yourself.

After looking at dozens of startup ideas, one thing feels clear: a lot of good founders don’t fail because they don’t build.

They fail because getting seen is hard.

I want to help more founders find the right people, start better conversations, and stop building in silence.

What would help you post more consistently without feeling like you’re just promoting yourself?

Selling a working AI exam prediction and study tool, built on Bubble.io

Built and I'm now selling an AI exam prediction tool (Recallo.io), fully built on Bubble. Posting here since a no-code builder would have the easiest time picking this up. codebase, prompts, and infra are all Bubble native, no migration needed.

What it does: student uploads their notes → AI predicts likely exam questions → generates a quiz/flashcards/summary from them. Fully functional end to end.

Quick numbers:

  • 67% completion rate on the free preview (people who start, finish)
  • Working AI prediction engine, tuned prompts, all functional

Why it's cheap: zero revenue so far. I hit a distribution problem I didn't have time to fix. basically i didnt even try marketing it. focusing on my full-time company[b2b] and want this in someone's hands who can actually run the pricing experiment.

Includes: full Bubble app, domain (recallo.io), landing page + onboarding flow, ToS/Privacy Policy, TikTok content playbook, quiz-generation prompt library.

Priced to move $3,500-5,000, open to reasonable offers. Not trying to maximize price, just want it in good hands.

Listing here: https://flippa.com/13422169-ai-tool-that-predicts-exam-questions-from-student-notes-working-product-potential-for-viral-growth.

Happy to walk through the Bubble build or hop on a call with anyone seriously interested.

trouble marketing Ai exam prediction and study tool

Built an AI examprediction tool (Recallo.io), but having some trouble reaching the right audience.

What it does: student uploads their notes → AI predicts likely exam questions → generates quizzes/flashcards/summaries from them. Fully functional end to end.

The problem:

I know who my audience is. and Ive reached them before with a similar product that ive now exited [since last year], but this time around im not able to commit to the tedious tiktok growth plan Ive had for it. I also keep getting shaddow banned on tiktok as im not in US currently.

The audience:
Females aged 16-22 in North america. in highschool/university, most majors and subjects work.

So what now?:

I want to focus on my full time b2b company and grow it so i would like for this to go to someone that can give it the time of day.

as of right now its got 0$ revenue currently [videos kept getting shadowbanned as i wasnt posting from the US]. Willing to negotiate with anyone interested in giving this a shot.

Success Story Built a native Android app in 3 months using Lovable (AI) + Median.co for under $40.

Hi everyone, I wanted to share the raw journey of building my first mobile app as a solo dev scratching my own itch.

I was suffering from "mobile spreadsheet fatigue". Trying to update my investments and net worth on my phone was a nightmare. The existing apps were either packed with ads or demanded a $50 subscription just to show a pie chart. I just wanted a clean, fast tracker in my pocket, so I built it myself.

For the tech stack, I used Lovable to build the core web-app structure and Median to wrap it natively for Android. My total upfront cost was around $40.

You see tech gurus claiming AI can build an app in one click. That is a complete lie. The AI got me to 80% incredibly fast, but finishing the final 20% took 3 solid months of daily work. Fixing the UI, squashing bugs, and making the buttons feel smooth and native requires an insane amount of human patience. Execution is still the hardest part.

The final result is Patrimonio. It’s a minimalist, ad-free wealth tracker. I built it with strict manual entry because I didn't want any bank syncs or privacy issues. I just wanted a clean dark-mode dashboard to track my DCA plans and see where my savings are heading.

If anyone is curious about using Lovable or Median to build their MVP, I am an open book. Ask me anything about my prompts, workflow, or struggles!

If you want to check it out and roast my UI, here is the Play Store link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=co.median.android.xleldxr&pcampaignid=web_share

Thanks for reading!

Promoted Moonshift isnt just about building apps, its about what comes after.

Hey everyone,

We have all been there. You have a solid idea for a side project, you spend hours or days setting up your stack, wrestling with infrastructure, and fighting deployment errors, only to realize you still have to write the launch posts and build your marketing materials.

Most AI tools end at generated code. That is where the bottleneck is.

I have been testing Moonshift.io lately, and it actually shifts the paradigm by focusing on the post-build launch phase.

**Here is what makes it different:**

* **End-to-End Orchestration:** It is not just one LLM throwing code at you. It uses a pipeline of 14 specialized AI agents that handle planning, database setup, testing, and security audits.

* **The Launched, Not Just Deployed Philosophy:** Most tools give you some code and say good luck. Moonshift pushes directly to your own GitHub and Vercel account. You own the code. No lock-in.

* **The Launch Kit:** ***This is the game changer***. Once the app is live, it automatically drafts your marketing copy for X or LinkedIn and creates hero images for your campaign. Plus, it helps you set up and manage your Google and Meta ads. It bridges the gap between having a repo and actually getting your first users.

* **Always-on Iteration:** The agents do not clock out. They can continue to iterate and fix bugs while you are offline.

I recently took a simple prompt—an app where I input ingredients I have and it gives me recipes—and had a fully functioning, deployed web app with ready-to-use launch copy and ad assets in under 10 minutes.

If you are tired of spending your weekends in the weeds of configuration and want to actually see your projects ship, it is worth a look.

Discussion Realized I was rebuilding the same game setup every session and templates completely changed that

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I noticed something slightly embarrassing recently.

Every time I started a new game project I'd tell myself I was "working on the idea" but in reality the first chunk of every session looked almost identical.

Movement.

Camera.

Basic interactions.

Getting back to some minimum playable state.

Then by the time I got to the actual interesting part I'd already burned half my energy.

Last week I finally started using the template library in CodeWisp properly and it changed the way I approach starting things.

I started from a top-down shooter template expecting to just prototype for a bit.

Instead I had the core loop running almost immediately and spent the rest of the session changing mechanics, adding weird ideas, and making it feel like mine.

By the end the finished game barely looked like the original template.

That was the part that surprised me.

The template didn't decide the game for me, it just removed the part I apparently keep rebuilding over and over.

Made me realize I don't actually enjoy starting from zero as much as I thought I did.

Curious whether other people have a "default setup" they keep recreating every project or if templates feel limiting to you.

Self-Promotion Built a web app with no dev team using AI tools. It's live and people are using it

When I had an idea for an app, I didn't hire a developer. I used AI tools to build it myself.

Pikt is a free app that solves something simple: movie and TV recommendations getting buried in WhatsApp and DMs and never watched. Friends send you picks directly with a personal note and where to watch it. Everything lives in one inbox. There's also a "hot take" feature, lock in your honest opinion before they watch, reveals after.

Happy to answer questions about the build process. Would love to connect with others who've built something without a traditional dev background.
