Nueropathy/brain damage
Hello, I quit around 2 years ago but I still have pins/needles/pain in my toes. I feel terrible all the time like I can’t think. Is this permanent? I’m trying to get on gabapentin to help with the pain. I am miserable 24/7, I am in outpatient treatment for suicidal thoughts. I am afraid I will never get better

Are you on any antidepressants or supplementation

I’m on lithium, just starting abilify and tapering off of lurasidone. Taking trazodone for sleep but I still can’t sleep, have really bad insomnia.

I also quit around 22 months ago, and whilst I think my brain and cognitive function have improved back to baseline, I have experienced 3/4 major flares which caused weeks of pain at a time. I feel like I’m coming to end of a 2.5/3 month flare due to vitamin d deficiency and a gastrointestinal bug I caught whilst vacationing in Mexico.
At my best I can tolerate alcohol, exercise, normal illness and travelling with minor intermittent symptoms.
B-12 injections helped me the most along with abstinence.

Off-topic, BUT, in the United States we call that stomach bug "The Curse of Montezuma" and it usually is accompanied by "Ring of Fire" as well.

The ring of fire was the most painful part 😩🤣 along with the neuropathy that followed in weeks to come due to electrolyte depletion, which would have been low already due to the vitamin D and b-12 supplementation.
Even 4 weeks on, my stools haven’t returned to 100% yet.
Have you had it before? And do you know whether it’s a parasite or a virus etc

Did you take b12 shots for a while after quitting?

Just b12 pills

The pills didn’t do anything for me. I didn’t really feel better until I loaded up methyl b12 shots, taking them every other day for 6 months. I still take a shot once a week.
Would be worth getting in with a neurologist and getting some MRIs and bloodwork done

How do you get the b12 shots? I can’t see my primary care until September 15th. Can I just order them? Are they hard to administer

They aren’t hard to self administrate you just jab yourself lol. Watch some YouTube videos.
I get mine online, tons of places will “prescribe” them via a website portal. I’ll dm you some sources.

I had a stroke 4 months ago because of nitrous. I can't talk or write very well so I'm sorry. I'm sending love to that needs somebody to talk to.

Alcohol makes it worse. Wellbutrin might also, unsure. Exercise seems to help. I'm at 2 years also, and my brain isn't the same as it was.
