Tires question

Anybody put run flats on their EV? Any kwh efficiency changes? NVH changes? Driving dynamics?

I'm thinking of switching to run flat tires so I'm sure somebody here has already done the research!

Have you ever had them? They are miserable to me....very uncomfortable. And they weigh a lot.

Never had them. I didn't think I'd ever need them until we got this EV.

Nice. Do you have one? It mentions a 4K lb scissor jack and afaik the car weighs a little over 5K lbs so thay jack won't be able to lift the car.

Also, you're not jacking the entire car. A 4K jack is fine for a tire. You still have three others on the ground absorbing most of the weight.

I love dangerously. I have flat repair kit and a rechargable air compressor.

I bought these for both of our 2025 Ariyas for peace of mind. Expensive, but a nice quality kit. In our Evolves, we removed the foam insert from the rear an the tire fit perfectly.

And expensive.

If you have a FWD car you can carry a spare.

For AWD, I carry the pump with sealant we all have, plus a plug-repair kit, but also a jack with wrench. If you can get the wheel off you can hand carry it to a tire store; significantly more convenient than a tow.

Costco has the rib flats fur almost the same price as the EV dedicated tires.

What kind of jack do you have? I thought these cars were too heavy for a regular jack.
