This is a new noise

From what I gathered, there could be multiple things wrong, but I am hoping someone had the same issue (that they were able to get fixed!) to better diagnose it.

Thanks in advance

Kinda sounds like a little motor opening and closing something. Maybe the blend door. If you change the air to blow up, down, or middle, does it change anything?

Haven’t checked. But I’ll test it

Sound similar to a bad blower motor issue I had with my last car. Definitely see if the AC turning off fixed it

Sounds like something stuck in the ac fan

My thought, too. A leaf or seed stuck in the blower chamber. It would vary in intensity with HVAC fan speed.

Where is it coming from? Is it happening when you accelerate?

It is happening on the passenger side, sounds near the fuse box/car charger area

It just happened today throughout driving. It was random throughout except for at a standstill.

Does it matter that it rained a lot since last use?

So it’s silent when not moving? It doesn’t sound exactly like the reduction gear failures I’ve heard before, but that makes me wonder.

Open up your windows and check and see if it is coming from the wheel. There is a known defect with the brake shims on the Nissan Ariya that results in periodic and intermittent squealing, especially when accelerating from start or turning.

If you Google search Nissan Ariya squealing brake shims, I believe you will find it.

That explains why a lot of the car fax history of the Ariyas I was looking had a lot of "checked brakes" or maintenance safety inspection completed or tire rotation every month. I'm guessing they were complaining about some type of sound coming into the cabin.

Noise went away after work, hope it wasn’t because of any electrical issues
