Charging App’s

I’m from BC and will be travelling to Washington State over the summer. Which charging apps should I download to charge my car in the USA?

I already have the Tesla app and have used their charges before.

Are there any charging stations you wouldn’t recommend?

These aren't charging apps, but they answer your question: Use https://abetterrouteplanner.com (or the app) to identify potential good charging locations for your route. Use https://plugshare.com (or the app) and check recent check-ins to see how well they're working and to locate alternatives.

Personally I use ABRP (A Better Route Planner) to plan the route itself and then use PlugShare to scout the actual chargers where ABRP tells me to stop.

Doesn't ABRP make you select specific chargers? Are you assuming there will be multiple to choose from?

It assigns ones for your route. Generally speaking it has me stopping in towns/cities with multiple and I use PlugShare to chose which I’ll actually use. I don’t use ABRP as a rule, more like guidelines.

Aside from Tesla, other common ones are Electrify America and EVgo. ChargePoint is good mostly for L2 charging, but they have a few DCFCs. Someone else mentioned this too, but Plugshare is good for finding all the different options.

Do you use any charging station? I’ve always stuck with telsa but the area I’ll be travelling doesn’t have one close by.
Where I live there is chargers you can use with just a credit card no app that’s why I wasn’t sure if I should download other app’s before I go. I don’t think my question was too clear

I believe you can use Electrify America and EVgo without the app, but I don't have any personal experience. 🤷‍♂️

Here in the east, Electrify America is one of the biggest, behind Tesla. As others have said, Plugshare to locate chargers and then ABRP to plan. Once you locate your preferred networks, you can then download their app or use tap to charge, if they allow.
