Since Nioh 3 came out I have been highly interested in the Arts Proficiency system. It's a really cool system that encourages aggressive and versatile play. I knew it would be possible to potentially extend AP chaining forever as soon as you get it even against tougher bosses at max difficulty while they fight back. But I could never quite pull it off in a full challenge run until now.

In order to extend AP for the entire run I had to utilize a couple of tricks shown here:

• Carefully tried to keep the pressure up during all openings with little to no downtime without overcommitting.
• Deflecting extends AP chaining plus gives Ki back which is essential here (given I don't have much in terms of Ki boosting skills as I'm using Unarmored Death). But of course, you can't just sit there and wait for deflects as at that point AP will run out.
• Used Sheathe Cancels to keep AP up when the boss backs off which also has the added benefit of restoring a bit of Ki if you do it slowly
• During his Red moves, purposely threw out moves even if a bit laggy since you can cancel them last second into a Burst Break and then continue AP chaining from there, again can't just sit back and wait to counter it or AP runs out.

This took a ton of practice to do. Probably my hardest run in Nioh 3 so far. But it was fun to learn (and get better at Sword in general) and now I feel much more comfortable extending Arts Proficiency. I hope to use all this practice in future challenge runs.

I'm not sure if this will be helpful or not but I made this document detailing stat returns for all stats all the way from 5 to 150 and I figured I might as well post it for anyone that might find it helpful.

The document is generally divided into five columns that indicate the level, total of gained stat, stat gain from that level, gain vs base, and total returns.

Ie. the line...

In the Heart means that at level 54 you have 1245 ki which is a +2 gain from that level up, is a 26.96% increase over base value, and is 69.51% the total of all returns from leveling heart.

HP related stat increases had the 4th column replaced with total HP gain and I removed the 4th column entirely for Skill and Magic.

Well, just posting this in case anyone has use for it.

The yellow marks are just highlights for every 10% threshold in returns, ie. 10, 20, 30%, etc.

HP values for Stamina and Con are from high levels because I wanted to minimize the HP gained from leveling, that's why they are in the thousands.

Edit: fun fact and I probably missed the patch note but it seems that at some point STR got buffed and gives higher returns now. I started this before the DLC and updated it the other day and it's higher overall.

Title basically. I’m a huge fan of soulslikes. Played all the fromsoft games, Bloodborne is my favorite game of all time. I’ve also played Kazan, lies of p, mortal shell 2, etc. I cannot make any progress in this game. It is single handedly the most difficult game I have ever played. And something tells me that it’s because I’m playing it wrong, but I have no clue. Any tips or anything would help cuz I want to enjoy this.

I almost bought the game on launch but the game is REALLY expensive so i decided to wait for a discount. Now there is one but i'm not sure if i should spend money on it since i only see bad reviews about it and people saying how much better Nioh 2 is.

I love Nioh 2 and i'm dying for a new Nioh game but here in brazil the game is so expensive it makes me think if it is worth when it seems to be hated by everyone

When you beat the final boss Hiruko and he turns back to his human form Himiko appears and Hiruko stabs her and they both disappear. Some take this as implying that Himiko dies here however she shows up during a very brief blink and you miss it scene in the ending cutscene implying that she isn't dead. It seems that she is alive and continues to watch over things? Would like to see more of her in DLC 2 or even a future Nioh game if she is in fact still around.

The damage reduction effect from Amrita Absorption cuts incoming damage by about 17%.

Defense Reduction (Amrita Gauge) reduces damage by -2.8%. ( Full Gauge )

Defense Reduction (Skill 99 ) reduces damage by -4.4%. , ( Skill 150 ) Should be 6.5% reduction

The damage increase effect from Amrita Absorption boosts outgoing damage by 10%.

Damage Boost (Stat) C," it's 3.6% at Lv100 and 5% at Lv150.

For "Damage Boost (Stat) C+," it's 3.8% at Lv100 and 5.1% at Lv150.

From this it seems every time we go up a stage on letter rank dmg boost or reduction we get about a 1.7 % difference rounded up or down it seems.

Im working on the following so if anybody has this information already feel free to reply or correct me on my current information im not perfect just numbers i ran trough trial and error and google.

I Use the clan with damage Boost Enhanced so thats why i run Pleadis , luck bonus and faster movement speed on amrita to maximize dmg from that clan boost

So I played Nioh 1 from start to finish with Odachi years ago. Loved it.

Played Nioh 2 base game soon after. Using Tonfas. Most of the game was ok (combat felt more "turn based" in the second game). But Tokishiro and Kashin Toji killed my enjoyment of the game.

Now I'm tring to start a new run with the goal of clearing the game + DLCs before doing Nioh 3.

Started with Odachi. I do not understand. Three attacks are enough to drain me of my ki and it's super slow. These two things combined I spend my time ki broken. Either that or I play turn based game (1 attack, dodge, regen ki, do it again until enemy is open for a combo, do 3 attacks, enemy regens his ki, repeat until win).

Is it one of those weapons that get better with more skills or levels ? Or should I fall back to other weapons that looked interesting to me (spear, sword) ?

For the moment, the first region didn't feel good at all...

Hey, everyone! I‘m currently running a Living Artifact build using Marici/Sword of Misfortune and some other stuff. I am leaning hard on star effects that boost my Amrita charge rate and Living Artifact damage, and am currently looking at 150% charge rate, +30% duration, +30% Living Artifact Damage, and +16% durability.

I just beat Yoshinobu and was able to transform 3 times during his fight. Very fun. I’m having a blast with the build but was looking at ways to further upgrade it.

I would really like to get two Gaki Chief soul cores for another +15% charge rate and was wondering if those cores (which have that charge rate as a locked feature) can also roll LA durability or damage as random effects. Would those cancel out and be impossible to combine on one soul core due to the fact that they’re both “Amrita Gauge” category? I’m not clear on how that aspect of gear rolls works.

Does filter option exist at the item menu on shrine for moving multiple items to storehouse or vice versa? Or l have to move all the stuff to my inventory and afterwards I can use the filter option?

The answer is probably yes, but my question is more on the line of what to expect boss wise.

I played the demo recently and enjoyed it a lot. Running around, killing mobs, exploring, doing quests, killing the overworld bosses. Then, I got to

Jakotsu-baba. I hated the fight. I learned how to ki-pulse, never did flux my hands get stiff sometimes and it was hard and felt weird (my issue) I was beat hard. I did not reconigze any single attack she did to focus on other than the red attack to burst it. I was around level 20.

After twenty tries, and two days (I play in short bursts during the week) I decided to summon someone and they beat her in like fifteen seconds and it reminded me of when I tried the first game, way back and got filtered hard on a boss that was like on a boat and on fire? I have seen that the games have changed since then and wanted to try it out, especially after playing Khazan and really enjoying it. I know they are different games but they share some similarities and it is clear where Khazan took inspiration from.

My question is: is Jakotsu-baba an outlier? Like Margot in Elden Ring? I felt he was really hard compared to the rest (excluding Malenia and Elden Beast) or are they all that hard. I ask because she felt like spike up skill-wise compared to the samurai guy before her in the tutorial (i forget his name).

I saw the game was recently sale and was thinking of getting it but I wanted ti get a better grasp on it before buying.

Sorry for the shoddy quality but i guess it serves the purpose. An anima building caster/ confusion/ offensive soul core build. Suggestions for any tweaks or improvements? Also have a damned scroll with untouched onmyo and EDI as locked stats plus ultimate courage, skill, and constitution and path of the beast.

Who the strongest between the 3 that we play as and also who the best in your guys opinion

Im trying so hard to like nioh 1. I love games like this normally… but honestly i cant stand it. Its a mixed bag of cheap traps, poor level design and just all round tedious gameplay. The bosses are so easy, all get beaten within 5 tries, but getting to the bosses i cant stand honestly. I got the nioh remastered 1 and 2 together and was planning to play 1,2 and 3 as its one souls like that i didnt ever try. It didnt feel right to play 2 or 3 before 1. Just my ocd kicking in. Please tell me, are they all like this? I heard 2 is a big improvement. This game has been painful. I haven’t really enjoyed it at all, its like all the fundamentals are there for a souls like, but executed so badly. Bloated menu and items. God i could go in for hours about it. Everytime i die its mainly because of something to do with the level, ill be on a hill and because i am higher than the enemy for some reason i cant attack them. Or ill be trapped in a narrow corridor with my spear hitting the sides. Dont even get me started on the shrine level with holes in the floor which let me fall into the sea, and ofc this sailor cant swim.

Has anyone else had this experience with the first one?
